Guest DarthMaulUK
Having done the maths, it doesn't look like Lucasarts will be announcing SWGB 2 @ this years E3. A new game; Republic Commando has been announced (on ign.com) and with the other space probably taken up by Rogue Squadron means that SWGB 2 won't be mentioned until either very late this year or early next. However, I am sure that E3 next year will feature Battlegrounds 2. It was always going to be a long shot as the new related project Lucasarts are working on is in pre-production so there's no confirmed art, screens or anything. Roll on next year! Darth Windu
DarthMaul - why was my thread on there not being a SWGB2 at E3 2003 deleted, and yet others are allowed to post almost exactly the same thing?
lukeiamyourdad
windu- No idea... Yeah just heard about republic commando... It's gonna be crap. Just like Jedi Power Battles and Obi-Wan this game will be unpopular. What do you want? Is-it fun to kill battle droids? Not so much... Much funner to kill stormies in JK2... It's gonna be next year's E3 then. We'll see it then...

joesdomain
This stinks! What is worse is the fact that Lucasarts is not releasing Playstation 2 Star Wars games for 2003. I am so pissed off at them right now. PC, X-box and Gamecube got at least one Star Wars game. Lucasarts isn't getting my money any more.

It must be a money issue of some sort. Because it doesn't make a lot of sense to not release a title on the top platform in the market.
Guest DarthMaulUK
It's probably because the PS2 can't handle the graphics of these games. The frame rate on the PS2 is awful compared to X-Box & Gamecube but Sonys clever marketing has made it a huge seller. Maybe LA are waiting for PS3, who knows because Sony certainly are lagging behind in terms of quality on their console. DMUK
lukeiamyourdad
Lol No doubt about that. Or maybe LA signed a contract with X-Box and Gamecube to have their games released only on those platforms. A little bit like the Resident Evils and the Final Fantasy series...
Guest DarthMaulUK
Very possible. The company I work for are doing an x-box exclusive and it does involve extra goodies for us. Sony have alot to do if they wanna catch up with X-Box live for example and as for online Nintendo... maybe the year 3010? DMUK
swphreak
I saw somewhere that they are making 4 games with Online Gamecube features. I dunno if they're out yet, but I know they haven't released the stuff to go online with Gamecube yet.

joesdomain
I am just upset with Lucasarts for not releasing any PLaystation 2 Star Wars game for 2003. GB2 will most likely come out in November or December 2004. That is crazy not to put PS2 Star Wars game out this year when it is the #1 selling console system. If I am upset about it just think about the other Star Wars fans who have PS2's also. I guess it will eventually come back and bite them in their butts for releasing non-star wars games on PS2 like Wrath Unleashed, RTX Red Rock, Gladius, Full Throttle Hell on Wheels and Secet Weapons over Normandy with no star wars titles for 2003. I don't foresee any of those titles making much money when they release them. Maybe Full Throttle! I forsee a marketing failure for releasing a bunch of non-star wars titles. Andyz
Lucasarts work for most formats and too release a star wars game on the ps2 they would have to drop the standard that they work too. (Graphically)
Clefo
Not to sound rude or stuck up or condescending or anything, but has it ever occured to you that maybe this whole GB2 thing is just a big rumor that might not happen?
pbguy1211
[obi wan voice]possibly[/obi wan voice] however, gary, what's his name who works for LA is supposedly working on another title... and we believe it to be an rts type o' game
Clefo
supposedly is a word with vague connotation. You could just be led on some vague goose chase to believe that there is a GB2 just so this forum could get more traffic.. ... No I haven't been talking to Fergie, why? *whistles innocently*
pbguy1211
i dont think they'd worry about web traffic on a page as such. though i could be wrong.
Guest DarthMaulUK
One thing I do not do, is make stories up to attract more traffic. Lucasarts ARE making a new Star Wars related RTS, if it will be called Galactic Battlegrounds II, I do not know. All I do know now is that the game will be released around the time of Episode 3 or just before hand. The new game is much further away then I expected but it is under development. Before I post such stories, I always check out my sources and since the very man who made this game hinted at the new game kinda leaves me thinking that one is on the way. Guest DarthMaulUK
Who knows and i dont care. I have actually spoken with Lucasarts and although couldnt reveal what it was, they did say he was working on something but it is along way off.
