Sig image

Recommended Posts

Well, after all the complaints and stuff where people have a difference of opinion, i thought I'd give you all a relief and post a technical problem that you can't dissagree on as much.

Basically, a while ago, I bought a sig image and created one to the specified banner size and it worked a treat. Except for one thing, I use the Monkey Island Discussion forums more than most other places (apart from maybe Mixnmojo) and if you look at the layout of that forum, it's thread space is narrower than most other forums, thus my sig image stretched it out. Not only that, but also, my sig image would usually stretch out other forums as well, but it wasn't as much as a problem as on MI Discussion. So anyway, to rectify this problem, I shortened the banner by 30% each side (suggestion from another forum member) but for some reason it didn't work, forums were still stretched out. Then my image just didn't work (problem with the server of the site I was hosting it from) and I had to upload it again. But instead of uploading the original, I uploaded one with all the excess crap taken out which left me with quite a small image (which you can see below you) but for some reason the forum is still stretched out and I can't see why (again, go to the MI discussion forum and veiw any of my posts there). Is this just the consequeses of having any picture in your sig or is it something else?

Please help.

Neil

Well first of all. this has happened on other forums.. like the Star Wars Forums... but then the Swoosh (The admin) came along and widenend the forum a bit so it would fit... i suggest you contact the admin of those forums where your sig is too wide.. or contact another one you know and ask them if they can make the alteration.

On a second note... we here ate the LF recently have a new Tag.... the align tag. you can now align the text or the picture to your liking

align=center

align=right

align=left (default)

but those between [ ] ofcourse and close with [/align]

quote this text if you want to see what i mean:

[align=center]centered text[/align]

If you out the align tags on the ends of your sig img tags you will align your sig image.

I hope i helped you a bit

Thanx, and you did help a bit (I'll align my images shortly, won't do much, but having it in the middle at least makes it look nice). The thing is, I don't think anyone (including me) wants the forums to be wider because it basically looks good the way it is. A lot of planning went into the design of this forum and I'd hate for it to be spoiled (also, the alignment fits with the image at the top which would be hard to widen also).

But yeah, thanx anyway.

Peace
