The Count
I have detected alot of anti British feelings on this forum since my time here, especially from the Spam post, and I myself am offended to no end, how dare anyone who uses the English Language insult Great Britain, Great Britain's achievments astonish me to no end it was the Great Briton's of the past who colonized he world and cultured it, our glorious British Empire was fascinating especially for a country of its size. The English Language is the defacto standard in the world even if there some of the words have been deragatorily Americanized and subject to other cultural influences. In World War II don't give me all this crap about oh if it weren't for America you'd be speaking German, firstly it was the Russians who did most of the fighting and defeat of Germany not America, whos role in World War II was greatly over exagerated and it was also their fault the cold war occured due to their hostile nature to the USSR which was only trying to gain limited influence in the Eastern Europe for their protection from another Western Invasion, however the Americans refused to tolerate this and the USSR was forced to seek total domination in this region to prevent the Americans creating more unfriendly states surrounding the USSR, and have the same occurance as pre 1939. By the way the British Empire never had anything like Vietnam which the Americans did due to their arrogancy. So please no more anti British feelings here. Surfnshannon
if you reserve the right for your freedom of speech for your Hitler avie... then others have the right to their freedom of speech against britain....
The Count
Not when it is inferred as Racism against Britain, a Hitler Avatar doesn't as such infer Racism as "YOU ENGLISH FOOL" If this sustains as a debate and not a flame war where I will be called up to defend my country from ignorance and other elements (then so be it.) leXX
Ok, in the spam thread it has come to my understanding now that Promosidone only said that because it was one of the poll options, an option put in by an English person as a joke. I didn't get it at first because I didn't bother to look at the poll options, an oversight on my part which I now regret, however I did post that I understood it was not meant as an insult after the fact. I think you should read that thread again.

leXX
Oh for goodness sake, how many times is this USA vs UK argument gonna come up? I'm so sick of hearing it. If I see one flame in this thread, I'm gonna lock it down, so keep it civil.
Surfnshannon
you spell colour or color however u want I have never seen until now, anyone chastised for spelling the word colour or color incorrectly and it would be annoying if I have to keep spelling colour and color just to not offend anyone because I spell color the american way because I LIVE IN AMERICA and I was taught to spell it this way since 1st grade. If I have spelled any words in this post in an offensive and american way I apologize.
The Count
I'm not bothered that you spell it that way, so I appologise for infering that however when someone states that is the correct only way to spell colour I am inclined to be offended. Surfnshannon
i think that you are a little to quick to jump on people about offending your country. i read that sentence and i really didn't think the poster meant anything by it.
toms
yay! cos england is soooooo great!!! The uk is no better or worse than anywhere else... the weird thing is that pretty much all the sterotypical things it gets stick for are untrue, whereas the things it SHOULD get stick for, it doesn't. eg: I think the last time i ate anything boiled was about 15 years ago. The only time i get annoyed is when EVERY TIME there is a british character on US tv they are total stereotypes with terrible accents. Weirdly this occurs even when they get british actors. What is the point of hiring a british actor and then making them talk and act like Dick Van Dyke??? Frasier and Friends seems to be the worst at this. I actually saw the woman who plays Daphne on Frasier on uk tv recently and for once she wasn't talking with quite such a stupid voice. ps/ the main advantage we have over they US is we have a much wider vocabulary of swearwords, so we can take the piss out of them and they don't even get it. Did anyone see that C5 programme a few nights ago where they were getting a load of 15year old cheerleaders to spell out swearwords? genius. oh, and a much wider selection of (cold) beer
obi
I'm going to go ahead and close this thread anyway, frankly because I think the idea of getting angry over someone spelling something different is dumb. Calm down, please. Btw, that link you gave us, d00ku, is over a month old.
