spaceship789
Has anyone seen the previews of Disney's Pirates of the Carribean Movie? Premise: Some carribean resident has to go after the evil undead zombie pirate after he kidnaps the guys sweetheat, the governer. s daughter sound familiar? I reckon the writers - Eilliot and Rossio (Shrek, Eldorado, Aladin) - must've known about Monkey Island for sure. Apparently the script is very funny ( go to Jim hill media for a script review), and perhaps monkey islandish. But not sure about the overall production - looks a little too serious in the preview. For those contemplating who would play who in a monkey island movie... here is who Bruckheimer (producer) went for: Guybrush.......Orlando Bloom LeChuck.........Geoffrey Rush Elaine.............Keira Knightly From the preview it seems Johnny Depp plays a pirate who Orlando goes to for help. Naturally since it rips off the Monkey Island, its a really good story, and is going to do very well at the box office. Not sure as to whether thats a good or a bad thing for any Lucas backed Monkey Island movies.. ..but either way, it may be the closest things we get to Monkey Island the movie. I hope its really good! Anthony. http://www.jimhillmedia.com/articles/bookreviews/breview.02122003.1.htm
Remi
It doesn't rip off Monkey Island - both the movie and Monkey Island are inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
