Wouldzey
Will European players (me being one of them) have to connect to US based servers when the game comes out over here? This would of course create some bad lag on the connection. Or will we be able to connect to servers based in Europe? Thanks Chris
Bzrk
I'm not sure but I don't think there will be European servers at the start. So we(being one of those europeans myself) have to log on to one of the US servers. I don't know anytthing about the lag, but I was told that it didn't matter that much if you are from Europe. Wouldzey
Thanks. It's just when i connect to servers based in US from the UK for games such as Medal of Honour i find that pings rocket and lag becomes a real problem. I heard somewhere that SWG will be running on super servers or something like that. You know anything about this?
setsuko
Well, thing is, that when you play MoH, you play on a server that another player created. When you play SWG, you play on one of SOE's servers. You can't make a SWG server of your own. And as SOE can afford faaar more bandwith than the average person out there, you'll know the difference. You're not connecting to Joe McSmuck's cabel in Arizona, you're connected to a server that is built for one purpose only; to run SWG. See the difference? Good. Wouldzey
Great help, Thanks. This changes things. What would you recommend. Importing the game from US to run on US servers or waiting to get European game for European servers (taking into account, i like all others want the game as soon as possible)? Bzrk
If you want to play asap, the best thing you can do is import it. This takes a day or 3. And that's way less then wait for the game to come out in the UK(or the rest of Europe)
Wouldzey
Do you think i might experience problems with time zones? If i play at about 6pm in England, it'll be about miday in US (East Coast). I dont think many will be playin then, so i might be on server with only a few others playing. Also about the night cycle? Is it fixed to 24 hour days because i dont want to be playing the game in the dark everyday.
setsuko
Yup, almost all MMORPGs I've been following had their european release some 3-9 months after the US release, so if you want to play it sooner rather than later, import the game. Almost always, you can play on the european servers with your US copy anyway.

Thousands of people from outside the US are going to play this game also, so you should have no problem meeting others. Also there are the people from the US that stay home to play, or stay up all night. You should be covered . As far as the day/night cycle; I'm not sure on the exact ratio, but its not 24-hour days. Wouldzey
Thats a releif . And i dont think the day night cycle should effect me much anyway come to think of it seeing as though i will probably play through the night too!
Xx_Patman_xX
I have no reason for saying this, but I am guessing the day/night cycle will go through its rotation maybe 3 or 4 times a day.
setsuko
I'd say even more often, Patman. About 10-20 days per RL day is not uncommon in MMORPGs.
