Icemaniax Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 hey Guys, i need some help, first i'll tell you what happened I was playing Tribes 2 and the sounds started getting crappy, so i quit, and checked my KaZaA Lite Music, it was all scratchy and garbled, my sound gets REALLY loud or really low whenever it pleases, and i cannot hear voices, "artists singing, missions briefings, ect... i have a factory installed Integrated Crystal WDM Audio, is it doing this because i need a sound card?
BCanr2d2 Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Do you have a sound card, or is it part of the motherboard? It is best to get the drivers from the manufacturer of the M/B if that is what it is part of, rather than get the ones from the windowsupdate site... Also make sure in the Device Manager that there is no conflicts either.
Icemaniax Posted June 18, 2003 Author Posted June 18, 2003 i dont even have a sound card, i have the integrated sound in the Motherboard. no card
Hekx Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 I previously had Crystal WDM audio codec for sound on my previous motherboard, which I think is apart of the VIA chipset line. So the best idea would be trying "Windows Update" for drivers, since there's some WDM and VIA drivers available there.
Icemaniax Posted June 19, 2003 Author Posted June 19, 2003 i checked, theres no updates. i am getting a Sound Blaster somthin from a online friend
Hekx Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 If you install a new soundcard, make sure you disable on-board sound in BIOS.
BCanr2d2 Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Who makes the MB, look on their site for an update of drivers for the integrated soundcard part of it. Sure you haven't muted, or disabled the output of the soundcard accidentally. Look in the Control Panel in the Sounds/Multimedia part of it. Soundblasters are nice, I am about to be spoilt for choice with my new PC, use the inbuilt 5.1 sound, or use the 7.1 capable soundcard - I know which one I want!!
WolfmanNCSU Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Make sure your speakers are in good condition still too. You can loose a transitor in your speaker and it would cause the sound to do the same thing. Just something to check on.
Icemaniax Posted June 19, 2003 Author Posted June 19, 2003 i use a headset, i thought they went out so i got my other pair, they were screwed, then i tried the speakers and they are screwed to.
