Creature Nerfing Makes Baboo Cry

I'm sure a lot of you, while wating for Starsider to come online last night (which never happened) read a message or two from the devs to pass the time.

The Creature/Droid nerf that is coming down the pipes now is going to be savage. It sounds like all my tamed pets will have their stats reduced to about a 1/4 or an 1/8 of what they currently are. Pet-death is going to be permanent now. And there will be a sort of certification system whereby a novice creature handler can not call out a Rancor, even if the Rancor is under the control of that CH.

The one good idea I've heard so far is scaling down physical pet size. So my pet turtle won't be the size of a small office block anymore.

A lot of the changes I tend to agree with. The power that some creatures had was out of control, and there were far too many casual creature handlers popping up.

I don't really know where I'm going with this post. I'd just like to hear what everyone else is thinking about these upcoming changes.

I personally think its great and something that should have been done before release. CH's owned in beta and no one cared.

My main problem with CH's is that they are treated like an advanced or elite class although it only takes leveling up in 2 skill trees. I used this example already but here goes again.

Bounty Hunter requires mastering Scout AND Marksmen. So to achieve novice BH you need to fill out 37 skill boxes.

To achieve novice CH you need to fill out 10 skill boxes.

So we have a BH that works his ass off for weeks that can be killed by a pet owned by someone who works less. Novice pets were able to go up against a Master BH and win without the aid of thier owner who is also capable of receiving even more training.

That too me is just way too out of balance.

I am glad for the change to my only questionis what certificiation do you have to have to call out what type of pets. I know that I won't be able to call out my sludge pantehr being a novice CH but can I call out my cu pa. Once this patch gets going I don't want to call out a creature that I cannot lose and thereby lose the option for this pet.

If anyone finds or see's a list of what rank you have to have for what type of creature please post a link so I can go look at it

I agree with you, murashu, on the balance in fighting. I think this needs to be done.

And you raise good points about the skill and time it takes to be a Creature Handler compared to a Bounty Hunter. Personally I think a person should have to be at least a master scout before entering into Creature Handling.

I am just really against the idea of perma-death for pets.

As it is right now, once a pet enters a fight, there is no way to disengage it. The 'follow' command works only very occasionally when a pet is fighting. This means that if I send in a pet to take down a creature, and the fight goes sour for one reason or another, I stand a very good chance of losing that pet forever. This hurts, especially after spending a week of growing and feeding the thing. I worry the risk of losing my pets will take me out of being useful in a fight, because I would rather save my pet then save an ally. This may seem a little self-serving, and maybe it is, but people can get cloned, while pets take hours and hours of play time to rebuild.

If any other PA CHs out there read this, please tell me your thoughts. I know this issue won't effect everyone as much as it's bothering me, but I'd like to hear what everyone thinks about it.

Well, what I never understood, is that people who complain about how powerful CH's are, they never would become one.

The DEVs know what they are doing to balance out the game.

I could really care less about this nerfing. I am having fun as a Creature Handler, and plan on doing so.

Not everyone wants to be a creature handler, it shouldnt be hard to understand. Jedi's will eventually be more powerful than anything in the game but not everyone will want to become one.
