Remi
A few weeks back there was a thread about some Syberia Xbox concerns, so I figured I'd address some of them here. The game was released yesterday, and for reasons unknown, I went out and got it, which in retrospect seems like an overly keen thing to do seeing that I could have gotten it for the PC ages ago. Anyway, I haven't played either the PC or PS2 version of the game, but so far I'm impressed with the conversion. It seems like they're utilizing the Xbox's HD features, as there are none of the annoying delays that plagued the PS2 version of EMI. Kate is controlled with the gamepad obviously, which works well for the most part, though there are some annoyances with the path finding when it comes to exiting rooms (this may also have been a problem with both the PC and PS2 version for all I know). The game features all of the GotY extras, like the making of video and what not. All in all it seems to be a great conversion (I assume - it plays well at least), which probably will disappear because of horrible marketing. The guy at the counter was like "Wow, they released this for the Xbox? Cool!", which leads me to believe people would buy it if they knew it existed. amishler
That's good news indeed! I'm glad I was wrong about one of my concerns anyway. And I'm also glad to hear that they included the GotY extras; that's a nice touch, especially at a $20 price point. Now if they'd just market it. At all. I mean, place a classified ad or something. Geez.
Homoludens
'Marketing' is a foreign term to adventure game publishers.
Pappa
The are some problems with exiting rooms in the PS2 version, but otherwise I thought the conversion to gamepad worked brilliantly for the rest of the game.
pleto4_ryan
The game features all of the GotY extras, like the making of video and what not. mmmm........I want that too.... (why does the idea of the green label on top of Syberia Box make me itchy to go out and find it )
SamandMax
Am I the only one that thinks EMI was better on the PS2 than PC?
Remi
EMI had some advantages on the PS2, but there were still apparent slowdowns loading dialogue and music from disc. Also, no iMuse.
Bloodsent
Anyone else experience about an inch of black framing around the screen when playing the Xbox version? Just wanted to know if it is normal or not.
Remi
Yeah, there's kind of a black border around the screen.
