boinga1
Well, after getting a very basic saber in-game, I'm moving on to modelling other weapons. Does anyone know what the tags needed for a new briar pistol are? I put a tag_flash, and that's working alright, but I don't know what the tag for where the hand holds the gun is. I tried tag_parent (like a saber hilt), but that doen't seem to do anything...anyone help? Please?
|GG|Carl
I would have done like this: 1. Downloaded a weapon from jk2files.com 2. Opened the pk3-file, and looked up what I needed to know. I really don't know anything about creating weapons, so don't flame me if I'm totally wrong or something
tFighterPilot
You're are totally wrong, I don't think you can see the tags in the glm file.
Emon
Import the GLM, the tags are there.
tFighterPilot
cool, I'll try that too
boinga1
I'm using Gmax, and the only program I can open the glm with is ModView. I can see, though, that the tags are tag_flash and tag_weapon. I have no way to get these into Gmax. On my model, I have added a tag_flash and a tag_weapon. the gun is sideways (90 degrees clockwise of where it should be). The shots come from the barrel, but they come from the side of it (the side facing away from the player. The tag_weapon appears to do nothing. I have rotated it and the tag_flash many, many times, but no change is evident.
razorace
The weapon is simply bolted at the model origin. I was worried about that for a while too. Just be sure to align your weapon along the same axi as the other weapons.
boinga1
OK, thanks a ton Razor. I've got the weapon fully functioning in 3rd person. Now one last question- how do you skin the first person gun? I got it in the right place, but it appears unskinned (I wrote a .skin file for it).
