To summerize it all up:

everyone has an opinion.

mine? it was a good adventure game. a great adventure game. Quite close to as good as the other 3 Monkey Islands. Is that good? In a monkey island fanatics eyes...no. It's not up to scratch. In an adventure gamer's eyes....yes; It was a good game.

Overall rating.....8/10

I think it was good, not as good as MI1, MI2 or MI3 but hey, it was still good. Personally, I didn't like the graphics that much, I thought the MI1 and MI2 graphics were stunning and just classic and I'd be SO happy if LucasArts did MI5 in ye olde 1989-1991 graphic, they ruled! I thought the MI4 storyline was OK and everything was pretty much ok but in the poll above I voted for 'good' because u couldn't really say anything bad about anything Monkey Island cos there isn't anything (and lechuck will come after u if you do say anything nasty! :chucky: )

Did it have good graphics for the time? I think so, yes. The characters rather came to life for me.

Did it have a good (or maybe just "okay") plot, a little different from the usual "LeChuck's out to kill Guybrush and marry Elaine" fare? Yes.

Did it have humor and satire leaking out its ears? Oh yes.

Did it pull through on the character level, presenting believable, dynamic main characters? ...No. EMI flopped when it came to characters. Satire is great, I love satire, but I got a little sick of "Guybrush the funny man," "Elaine the Ice Queen" and "LeChuck the idiot." They're more than that. They've been more than that in the past three games.

That's the only thing that disappoints me about EMI. The characters went out to lunch and left cardboard cutouts behind, hoping nobody'd notice the difference.

If I'd gotten here in time, I would have closed this, but too many people have posted now. You're all skating on thin ice here.

Is this a bad thread?

Ok, yes, it's all been said before. What else is poor about it?

Quite Confused,

Ernil

I'm simply annoyed about the repetitiveness, there are plenty of the same damn threads about which can easily be found in this exact forum, so why star a new topic over it?

But there are too many replies now, so I won't close it unless it becomes a spam or flame thread.

True, MOnkey 3 is the most beautiful game i've ever played, almost every room, path, landscape was beautiful to look at, even watch the intro credits everytime i boot the game just to see the drawings, awesome

i com-pleted MI 3 again yesterday, and it sure has got alot of character development compared to MI4...

But a game just isnt the same if u have played it before, i really couldnt feel myself getting into the story very much, although i must say when i replayed MI4 i could find myself getting into it... weird...

It's kind of funny how I was introduced to the Monkey Island Series. I first got EMI for Christmas, and thought it was the best adventure game in te universe. Then, I embarked on a quest to play the other three games. First, I found SoMI and played that, and thought: "Wow, this is pure gaming rapture!" Then, I played MI2, and it blew me away. Sadly, because I use macs, I still haven't played MI3 or Grim Fandango, 2 adventure games, I desperately want to play javascript:smilie(':(')
