Yeah, it's one hell of a game, IMO. Someone converted HK-47's model into GMod as an NPC, so I'm using that as my player model. He looks badass with a Combine Rifle, especially when he's driving a jeep, mowing down zombies.

You don't really need to use an older machine, it'll run on any modern system perfectly. Actually, it's more or less designed for modern systems.

The installation process is simple, as you don't really need the Mac version of Descent to run the Mac version of DXX. For example, all you really need to do is copy just two or three files from the Descent disc into the DXX folder, and it'll run perfectly.

Oh, and OpenGL is a rendering system, like DirectX on Windows. Thing is, OpenGL will run on essentially every system, and is completely modifiable. And free.
