Yeah, and possibly to avoid copyright trouble. Who would have though, someone like Crumb would dig the source out 30 years later 😆

I am sure Laserschwert could do much better
Not much. Yours looks great!

Also, where can I find the other “Cursed” soundstracks? I have only heard the one from MI1. I didn’t know there where others from the other games.
I think this is the original YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/wdrpgwd

We'll see. Maybe some proper cleanup and some AI tinkering will make this good enough (the original was rather blurry - I assume it was a photograph rather than a flatbed scan).

So is this one stapled? Also it will be interesting to see how much resolution we can pull out of a 30 year old print. I somehow have the desire to vectorize it.

@Dmnkly As I understand it, Ron was sitting in during the recording sessions. Was that first, or was he on site during the Special Edition recordings too? If it was a first, did it add any additional pressure or a special atmosphere to have the creator of Monkey Island right there?

I think I can also safely assume Laserschwert is the same person as the owner of this Google Drive Folder.
That's an old link though. The one in the opening post of this thread is much more up-to-date.

Though performing Guybrush in an unofficial capacity probably isn't something I could have done anyway
To be fair, that's pretty much what I assumed. I guess I should have asked last year, when there was no sign of ever being another MI game. 😉

Some of those Twitter comments suggest that those left two pirates might be Bart and Fink. I never drew that connection, but they do look similar. Also, did Steve Purcell use his own face for the pirate on the right?

Well, Ron DID recently lament the fact that MI1 has mostly generic responses for hotspots, so there's probably a lot of specific dialogue in this. But that would hardly add up to a couple of thousand extra lines.

Is it his last soundtrack before retiring?
Yeah, Indy 5 and Spielberg's "The Fabelmans", and the latter seems to be already finished. Obviously he won't stop composing, as he's always said he'd do that until he drops dead, but no full fledged Hollywood soundtrack with tight deadlines.

Shame there won't be one more Struzan poster to go with it.
That's really sad. And he's absolutely adamant in mentioning his retirement whenever it's brought up. In theory it could mean that it's just a marketing ploy to have them reveal "one last Struzan" poster next year, but that's probably too optimistic.

I just can't bring myself to getting excited yet. The trailer will surely push me over the edge (I know KOTCS's trailer did), but 4 missed the mark on so many aspects, even after the promise of going absolutely old-school with it. Granted, the switch to Mangold could provide enough new ideas to result in a great movie, but I'll stay sceptical until seeing it.
What I AM excited about to no end is the prospect of one last John Williams soundtrack. The last soundtrack of his career, and it will be Indy. How amazing is that?

I think I found a silhouette in the background that looks like Guybrush. Has that been discussed yet?

Wow, that was fast. The map is funded. Thanks to everyone who donated!
I've ordered the map. With oversea shipping this'll probably take a month until it arrives.

Wow, didn't expect this kind of response, thanks!
Alright, if it's okay with the mods, I'll add a PayPal donation link
to the opening post. It'll only stay up as long as it's needed.EDIT: Here we go! I've refrained from putting it in the opening post, so that no one thinks this is general payment for the poster project itself (greetings, Disney lawyers!). The funding goal is set to 75 EUR, so that it only covers the costs of the map. As a side note: Collecting money to acquire a map feels very adventure-game-appropriate.

The book is from 1856:

The Cursed soundtrack was a completely (well, mostly) original work though, while this "simply" contains a converted version of the original audio.
But yeah, most likely no one will mind.

If you got the loop markers working, wouldn't this just need a batch or script to extract everything needed from the game data files, and apply those changes? I'm just thinking that it might be safer to NOT share the music itself.

Since the reprinted books of the map out there seem to be mostly crap, I guess this is our best bet at a quality version of it:
https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?kn=Original Map Coasts Islands AegaeanIs there enough interest in this for us to collect some money to purchase this? I haven't done this before for the poster project, and I wanted to keep money out of it for all these years, but I'm thinking about mobilizing the community for stuff like this.
Could you see yourselves donating to the project for this?
Total costs for the map + shipping would be $77.50
(I know some of you have purchased items for the project before, and I'm really thankful for that!)

Is this something that can be achieved via a delta patch, or would this require a download of the complete recompressed music? The latter would be more problematic to share (legally) than what the Ultimate Talkies do.

Working with a rip of the map from the Geographicus site, I've come up with this approximation to the coloring of the map seen on the box and manual.
