  1. I got into Monkey Island with TOMI and the special editions, and played EMI when it was already thoroughly considered "the worst one" by the fanbase. I was playing the whole series, after all. Wildly out of order, but still. Gotta play em all. And EMI has a lot of charm. I actually like the graphics a lot. I was a tween in the year 2000, during the late 5th gen and early 6th gen of gaming. While I didn't play EMI then, its a very nostalgic aesthetic for me. I like the anachronisms. They're funny and insightful in places. Its nostalgic - again - as its interesting to be reminded what was considered new and novel at the time. There's a lot of interesting details and nice touches. There's a lot to love in EMI. But Good God have the politics in that game aged like milk. I agree with a lot of the broad political messages. Authoritarian populism is bad. Misinformation is bad. Rupert Murdoch should be crushed by a giant stone hand. But EMI is a story that can't imagine better things. That's all I'll say, and I'll leave it broad, because I don't want to discuss politics. I'm sorry for even mentioning it already lol. also I love Guybrush as a malewife and EMI needs to stop making fun of him for it:(:(;( stop bull iyng leave guys ,bush alone .
  2. What other games does your cousin like? Are you introducing them to Monkey Island because of your own nostalgia, or because it's a game that fits your cousins tastes? Theres nothing wrong with trying to broaden their taste, of course. But they're gonna have their own tastes, and it wouldn't be fair to impose on them. So ask with an open mind, and take no for an answer. Don't be pushy if they refuse. Its OK if they don't want to play it. In terms of graphics, just show your cousin some screens and ask what graphics they want to use. Its for their sake after all. Do play a version with voice acting, though. Unless your cousin just really hates voice acting for some reason. The VO work really elevates the dialogue. You could also just slip a bunch of your retro games on their PC as a gift and see if they go for it. Why not give them a copy of your entire retro collection, even. If they want it, of course. I got some of my games as a kid from hand me downs, and I didn't mind that.
  3. Even if Carla is just the governer "just because", I'd buy it. Other than Elaine, she was the most capable of the Melee's inhabitants of being governer. In the real world, a government job usually isn't on the career path to becoming a politician. A government job is more like a public servant role, and career politician is something different. Of course, that's nitpicking, and I'd believe it in a story. Why not. I hope they don't ignore Herman becoming governer, because him leaving that role to become a hermit again Just Fits. Its perfect.
  4. Its incredible that they got Chris Pratt for both Guybrush and LeChuck! I guess that settles it forever, the two are brothers in Pratt.
  5. Its good to see the joy of sharing hasn't been completely driven from Ron. Its a great title card illustration, too. Like any good cover illustration, its very enticing, and sparks the imagination. It seems the eccentricities of Rex Crowle's art style are subdued in a sepia still-life piece. Although its still clearly a piece made under his direction. But hopefully, it won't draw in much art style hate. Honestly, I hope everyone's got that out of their system for now. I'm bad at describing music. I like it and think its a good variation on the title card jingle.
  6. Guybrush really is just a big kid. 👀
  7. Looking forward to tricking Stan out of all his Nonkey Friends Tokens.
  8. He's just taunting us, isn't he? lol we all do a little trolling. I'd be happy to eat these words, mind you.
  9. I was going to say "the thing that ruins the "everyone is older" theory for me is Elaine". But I doubled checked, just to be sure. And sure enough, she has crow's feet in the promo art!
  10. because it is one. no other explaination
