I recently played Escape from Monkey Island after a couple of decades of not playing it. I have to say that it was better than I remembered, but I've realized that the problem with EMI is not that it's a bad game. It's just a bad Monkey Island game. It has its moments and I can even look past the graphics. But it's just not "Monkey Island" material.
