ho lee crap

look what I done started.

and steed, just because somebody thinks differently doesnt mean they arent thinking at all. We are all allowed to think what we want. Sad part is people still think they are better than other people because of what they think.

OMG, what has this thread become. Look it was all fun and games in the beginning but just look back at all of our posts. Out of the last like 20 posts. We have done nothing but taunt each other. This is the epidemy of flameing. Look, instead of talkinga bout David Blaine, we are trying to wack each others head off. Every single post is americans suck, british suck. Well guess what the only things that suck are our attitudes towards eachother. This is total and uderly childish. We are saying people thatwe have never met suck. Maybe David is not such a bad guy. How do you know you have never met him. Anyone ever heard the saying dont judge a book by its cover. Well thats exactly what we are doing. Now lets stopping acting like a bunch of 9 year olds and lets get onto the thread. This is the David Blaine thread, not the flame everyone at random thread.

And IS, number one, have you ever heard one mans junk, is another mans treasure. Well that basically applies to this. What one individual thinks is stupid, may be great to another. second not all magic involves hats and bunnies. Magic goes along the lines of something bizzare happening or, even having something good happen. People often use the term lucky or magical when something happens in their life thats good. Its basically the same thing. Third, dont go calling people stupid when you too have done stuff stupid in the past, and which i think is more stupid than what he is doing. Considering it was illegal, and very stupid.

Hear hear, Father Torque.

XERXES, I did not say people are not allowed to think differently, and I certainly do not believe that anyone should be higher than anyone else just because of what they think. You may have misunderstood what I was saying... no hard feelings, old chap?

Back to Blaine - I loved his street magic (although I know how he levitates). Some of his card tricks are totally and utterly perfect illusions, and left me open-mouthed in wonderment. I think if he returned to basics, and left out these large-scale stunts which aren't really conventional magic, he would create a much larger following.

I did hear that Blaine is trying to recruit people into a massive magical cult and take over the world, but it was blurted out by a fellow magician who wasn't as good as Blaine at the card tricks. Can you see any sense?

Sorry for not being the almighty understander of foreign accents. But are you saying that in a good or bad way. Bad way as in trying to mock me. Or good as in i hear you?

I have seen Blaines street magic on tv. He is quite amazing with his fast hand card tricks. Though i know how he levitates, and twists his arm like that, and bites the quarter. But his stuff like switching the cards is simply genius. It was quite funny when he went into the Cowboys locker room, and starting doing his stuff, it was crazy. Then he mistified this little kid, and he started at him like a cow stares at an on-coming train:D

I can translate, being English myself... he means he agrees with you. 'Hear, hear' is said as a confirmation of agreement during a debate (usually in places such as parliament but can be used anywhere).

I'm sure the more Steed and myself use this forum you'll get used to it. I should think there's more Brits on here that you'll pick language tidbits up from, I'm pretty sure I recall Lexx stating she's from England.

Father Torque, I would never dream of mocking you! Good Lord, I am shocked that you would even think that...

Seriously, though, I was responding to a very sensible and persuasive post, written very well by your good self. The phrase "Hear, here." supported the points you made. As Thopa informed you, it is mainly heard in British Parliamentary debates, when politicians shout out that they agree with someone.

David Blaine should stick to card tricks. These big stunts are rather ridiculous, if you ask me.

Thanks Steed. I know you would never mock me. I was i guess more curious about what it meant than how you sted it. I thought it was on the line of calling me a "weenie:.

And yes I agree, he should perfect his card skills. And then continue his street magic. This other magic, is pretty corny. But he is dong it in a smart way. Considering all the revenue he is bringing in.:)

The disruption David Blaine is causing quite frankly makes me feel ill - the same American attitude that everything should stop just because they want to do something ridiculous.

If nobody paid attention to him, would he still be causing a disruption?

Guest Lord Blackadder

Blaine has all the inginuity of a dead halibut, he's just an attention seeker with bad judgment - did he really think he'd get a good reception sealing himself in a see-through box above the Thames leaving himself wide open to abuse from a general public that doesn't know him from Adam? Still, if he thinks it'll gain him respect then fair play to him... personally I always preferred his street magic.
