Andy867
Ok, recently I got the FRAPS program and have been working on a video walkthrough website so that people can download the videos to help them in trouble spots. The only problem I have is that the files are quite large, and I need to compress them while still trying to maintain a decent quality image. My goal is to make versions for 56kers and also for broadband(course this allows a little leewayon how to keep the image quality. So my question is what is the best video codec to use that I can possibly get for free that will keep a good image quality at low bit rates. |GG|Carl
Quicktime mov-files? You could make one big and one pretty small version.
Surfnshannon
Divx?
Andy867
I tried using DivX and it got the movies to be about 10mb but with more image quality loss than what I was hoping for... What do you guys think should be a good size for a 5-6 minute movie (some missions I might split up into 2 if they get to be too long, like Hoth). For Broadband, I figured 30-40Mb would be acceptable (hopefully)
Surfnshannon
http://www.on2.com/vp6.php3 This claims it is better than divx. 30-40 sounds reasonable for full walkthru of a level also here's a listing of different codecs... http://graphics.lcs.mit.edu/~tbuehler/video/codecs/index.html
Boba Rhett
I'd stick with using divx, personally. What's your video and audio compression set to for it?
