The 80's laid the foundations for everything we have today.....the only thing bad about the 80's was mullets.....now I know that Ray is gonna argue with me on this one,but mullets are a bad thing...I can't understand how they're back in fashion (in the

UK at least).....

Queens of the Stone Age

Saw them live when they played at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert.

Though I dont like the music, they make one good concert.

I can't understand how they're back in fashion

I like all styles of music, but I mainly listen to (and attempt to play) jazz-fusion and prog-rock. I seem to like anything as long as it blurs the lines between styles.

Specific bands: The Dixie Dregs, Jethro Tull, Rush, Yes, Frank Zappa, The Mahivishnu Orchestra, Steely Dan, Kings X, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Steely Dan, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, the Allman Brothers Band.

Steely Dan is worth mentioning twice...or three times, as you will. Aja is one of the greatest albums ever.

Well, the danger of the rocks is surely past

Still I remain tied to the mast

Could it be that I have found my home at last...

Words to break the heart of a tough, sea-loving pirate wench like me. Even when taken the wrong way. :Pir1:

And....I have this strange fascination with "Inca Roads." Have you ever tried to play that, edlib? It's mind-boggling to the hundredth degree.

Way to shout Andy.;)

I used to be a big Rap kid, listening to the Radio and such.

But then I saw the light.

And then I saw the light again.

And again.

And now I have found the final light. The perfect music. The most brilliant sounds. Flawless. And in this place, I am happy. They would never begin to think about playing it on the radio, but heck, that's fine with me.

nah, britneys advisors just decided shed have a broader appeal as a sex icon, so they told her to start to act slutty. shes a puppet, a tool of marketing commitees who are out to make money, not music. same with christina aguilera, avril lavigne, good charlotte, simple plan... maybe some of them started out as musicians/singers but imo they've all fallen into the mind-control mtv lifestyle ideal that makes 75% of popular music crap.

I like to listen to game soundtracks (I guess my site gives that away). Stuff like Hitman 2, Morrowind, Doom, Dune, Lost Eden and Medal Of Honor are some favorites.

Movie soundtracks (John Barry, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Basil Poledouris, Howard Shore) are also a passion.

Of course I listen to 'normal' music as well. There is no particular genre, but generally I can't stand dance music. Let's start with some of my favorites:

Denali ("Prozac", "Where I Landed", "You File"), K's Choice ("Believe", "Everything For Free", "Freestyle", "Winners", "Iron Flower"), Darling Violetta ("Cocoon", "Cure"), Simon & Garfunkel ("Bridge Over Troubled Water", "The Only Living Boy In New York", "Song For The Asking") Nelly Furtado ("Scared Of You", "Onde Estás")

If you're more into electronic music, I can recommend http://Lemon Jelly ("Spacewalk", "Rambling Man", "Nice Weather For Ducks", "Page One") and RMB ("Redemption", "Troubled", "Chakka Chakka", "River's Edge"). Lemon Jelly is very melodious and RMB boom-boom techno.

A little heavier? Check out The Fucking Champs ("Air On A G-String", "Chorale Motherfucker", "Extra Man", "Thor Is Like Immortal"). They play mainly guitar music and have very little singing throughout their albums. Tristania ("Deadlocked", "Wormwood", "Simbelmynë", "Dementia") is a Norwegian goth band. In Extremo ("Como Poden", "Der Galgen") is a band that interprets medieval music and instruments mixed with metal. Corvus Corax ("Avanti", "Mit Dans Is All Die Werlt Genesen") uses medieval instruments as well, but they are less lyrical.
