Dial-up Gaming

Hi all...

For those of you who have *cringes* only a dial-up (modem) internet connection, I was wondering how you manage to call yourself a "gamer".

The reason I only have a mere modem is because both of my location and my parents' unwillingness to have "another damn hole" drilled in their house. I'm sure others out there have only a dial-up conn, whether it be parents, location, budget, bad luck, exploding monkeys, etc....

I just want to know:

What games are there that still provide a load of fun, even with a dial-up connection. Furthermore, which games are playable even with a connection THAT DOESN'T EVEN CONNECT ANYWHERE NEAR 56K!!! *gives chocolate to everyone to stop flaming me for yelling*

Here are some of the ones I've found:

Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight -- Great JK game, started it all, but it seems that anymore its just a bunch of 7-year-olds with crappy comps, or a bunch of so-called "hackers" who download pre-made COGs off the net. Sigh... if only there was an actual game for fun on there...

Most Strategy Games -- I hate strategy games *hands out 2 chocolates this time* but I'm sure they work great.

Simulation Games -- X-Wing Alliance, FreeSpace, even... *stuffs everyone's faces with chocolate* this one game that I SWEAR i only played for a few weeks called Star Trek Bridge Commander.

Ancient Games--Uhhh... can anyone say Pac-Man??? :D

----

Now, If there are any others (preferably first-person shooters, please) that I should know about, please post now!

No, I'm not a n00b...

You all suck:mad:

I hate my 56k AOL connection. I cannpt play JA or JO with it unless iut is people with around the same ping as me(good lord).

BUT, I have the next best thing to having cable Highspeed internet and a ping of 60. No, not imagination. But family:cool: Everytime I go over to my cousins house I play JA, and I am damn good with two sabers and no lag:)
