Guybrush and Wodehouse = Threepwood?

P. G. "Plum" Wodehouse is one of my favourite authors. The stories about Jeeves and Wooster are simply genious. Now Wodehouse also invented the character Hon. Galahad Wodehouse. What I wonder is if Guybrush got his surname as an homage to Wodehouse or if it is uncorrelated?

From what I've heard (as also seen here):

Threepwood was decided in a company contest - the name comes from the book "The Brinkmanship of Galahad Threepwood" (US title). "Threepwood" is also rumoured to be the name of Dave Grossman's character in RPGs.
