Swoosh Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 So the rumors are rumbling again...decide for yourself whether to believe them or not. I personally am waiting for an official announcement of some type...but the idea that spielberg would direct is amazing. Check it out: http://www.theforce.net/holonet/index.shtml#22344 Swoosh
|GG|Carl Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 Let's hope they won't make 'em! It would ruin EU!
Lynk Former Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Personally I don't give a toss about EU. I hope it isn't made to save the movies. Even the prequels must be protected!!

Miko_lover Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 I think they would be good. But check out the stuff about VII on this site: supershadow.com
Jedi_Monk Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 I agree with Rhett; anything that will destroy the concept of the EU being on a level with the movies can only be good in my eyes!
Snafu7 Posted October 24, 2003 Posted October 24, 2003 Hmmm... I don't like the idea of someone but Lucas making the movies, but they might be good if it happens
DarthBudzy Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 Nah, Lucas has (quite recently) stated that EP VII-IX will never happen. He went on to say that Star Wars WILL live on, however, in the form of (possibly) television spinoffs.

Jedi_Monk Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Just so long as any Star Wars TV series avoids the pit dug by the EU. Here're the elements I think would be necessary for a successful spin-off: 1) Don't worry about keeping continuity with anything other than the movies. I'm talking an anthology series with many different writers and directors all giving their own take on the universe, whether their take be sci-fi-driven, or fantasy-driven. You'll get some reekers, but you'll probably get as many great ones. 2) Avoid the main characters. Let Luke, Leia, and Han get their fairy-tale happily-ever-after, and move on to some new blood. The galaxy is a huge place, find some new and compelling characters. 3) Jump into multiple different timeframes. Show the ancient SW universe as well as the one seen in the movies, and the one that might have resulted from the events seen in the movies. 4) Not every storyline needs to be focussed around spectical. Star Wars is as much about inner truths as it is about flashy battles. Film Noir style would work well for some story archs, so not every one would have to be expensive and effects-heavy. Oh, and... 5) Don't just hire "award winning" authors to pen episodes. Buy the concept, not the name. Have fans write as well as big-name authors; run contests for best scripts and then make them. Long and short of it: Infinities on TV.
Lynk Former Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 I'd like to see an old Jedi Western set a loooooooong time before the movie events XD lol.
