Mr.Burger
I'm now reflecting. That is I beat Day of the Tentacle at 10 p.m. today, after starting 22 hours earlier and stopping only to sleep from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. I was a bit flustered by the multi-character thing at first... but soon grew to love it since you were forced to cooperate and plus the environment changed often thanks to this system. I've always liked time-travel games anyway. (I made one once! Yippee!) Okay let me do a corny review thing since everybody likes reading them: Graphics - 9/10: The graphics were super (obviously I considered the year of release) but there were a few rooms, just inbetweener rooms, that weren't as appealing hence the minus point. All in all the character animations and expressions, plus the goofy mannerisms of the tentacles, make the game wonderful wonderful wonderful. Gameplay - 10/10: Obviously my 16 hour gaming spree is the biggest tip-off to how well the gameplay was organized for Day of the Tentacle. There are many characters throughout the game that aide you in your quest to prevent Purple Tentacle's diabolical scheme, and each of them is as lovable as the next. The puzzles range from blatantly obvious to pleasantly mind-bending. This game is most certainly worthy of the LucasArts logo and the Tim Schafer tag. Sound - N/A: The sound didn't work. I don't have an 8 year old sound card that is compatible with the game. Overall - 8/10: This game is comparable to the MI series, and even, in my opinion, is better than Full Throttle, Sam'n'Max, and Indiana Jones. To be specific, Monkey Island 1 and 2 are the best two games to date, followed closely by Grim Fandango, then that's where this fits in, tying with Curse of Monkey Island. Last in the top 5 games would be Escape from Monkey Island, which probably only is on the top 5 because of it's heritage. And that is it. Let's converse about LucasArts' Maniac Mansion - Day of the Tentacle!!
Alia
You played it...without sound? You are a deprived, deprived person. Did I mention that you're also deprived? That game has voices....and great, appropriate sound effects....and lovely, fun background music....why, you take a third of it away right there! The insanity! Mr.Burger
i know i know... By the way I must ammend my list!! Tying with Grim Fandango would be Loom. Definitely. Here: 1. Monkey Island 2 - Lechuck's Revenge 2. The Secret of Monkey Island 3. Grim Fandango/Loom 4. Day of the Tentacle/Curse of Monkey Island 5. Escape from Monkey Island

Jedi-Monkey
I played it without voices but I had music. I felt deprived then, but no sound?!?!? How can you live without purple tentacles theme tune!?!?!?!
Skinkie
The real question is how could you go without any of the sounds? This was the second adventure game I ever played (after monkey 1) It's like religious for me to play it.
Ernil
Loom's also on his top 5, and he played that Poor Graphics version, and with no sound. That just adds to his insanity. I'm just about to borrow his game and play it for the first time. I'm pumped. Meaning the game's I'm currently playing: Grim Fandango Sam 'n Max Full Throttle DOTT All for the first time. Mr.Burger
Loom's sound stopped working, Chris, on my computer. That's right - the CD you lent me. idk why. sometimes it'll play like a line of dialogue then after that it's just mouth movement. and how about that full throttle? want to hook a brother up? (said as whitely as possible). unless you think your basket is not full enough... and mine is... (i have no games to play except longest journey but they aren't kidding when they call it the LONGEST goddamn journey.)

Shivermetimbers
WOOHOO!!!!!!!! I LOVE DAY OF THE TENTACLE!!!!!! None of your poll options are strong enough to express my tentacle love. I don't remember if mine had background music (sad, since I played it about two weeks ago), but it had sound effects. I was so absorbed into loveing the game that it didn't matter. This game is... simply amazing. I love it beyond words. I'm sorry, but you cannot get any better than evil tentacles who try and take over the world. I am speechless with love for Day of the Tentacle and those who love it with me. *cries tears of joy

Ernil
Dana (Mr.Burger) tried that, and reported to me that he couldn't get out of the Maniac Mansion game. He had already beaten the MM, and didn't want to play it again, but wanted to continue DOTT. He was forced to go back to his last save, which was an hour or two ago. So I'd be nervous to play it from DOTT. Though I will.
Shivermetimbers
That happened to me too. I got all scared and thought I had to play through ALL of Maniac Mansion. I didn't thouhg. But the only way you can get out is by pressing ctrl+alt+delete and then going back into DOTT. I was scared off my butt though.

Yufster
Yufster had lots of group projects and stuff to do, and she was kind of busy. I fed her to the manatees.
Alia
You mean, sort of .. Info Sea Cows? I'll bet they found her extremely tasty. But there's a flaw in your story, unknown one. Info Sea Cows are VEGETARIAN. So you must own up. Where is she? And I AM anticipating a wild story about omnivorous manatees, so don't try that one. GAMEPLAY: Awesome 10/10 SOUND: Awesome 10/10 MUSIC: Awesome 10/10 EVERYTHING: Awesome 10/10 OVERALL Awesome 10/10 ADDITIONAL NOTES Awesome. 10/10. Agreed, wholeheartedly. Except having Hoagie burp every two minutes got kinda annoying, especially when I left to go do something without pausing it.... And then, as luck would have it, some unsuspecting person walks into my room and the computer BURPS. Which is kind of funny in its way, but what does it say about me as a person? I shudder to think. That's why I don't do it too much.
Reaper Girl
Burping taint so bad. Bernard picks his nose if you leave him alone. Bad Memory: Away from computer while playing GhostMaster demo. Mother walks into room. Idiot forgot to pause...blech. So, if you aren't Yufster, then, who are you?
Shivermetimbers
Sometimes I walk into Alia's room and burp/belch loudly. Then she gets mad and makes me excuse myself. I did notice that about Bernard. Nothing changes, I give everything in DOTT infinity/10 Thats how good it is. The only problem with it was that it didn't go on forever and ever. Im sure you could trick manatees into eating meat. You could disguise it as sea plants some how and they would eat it... they aren't too smart manatees.
