FLaM-DraG Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 I just got this game for the PC and I feel a little let-down. I was expecting a Star Wars-themed Morrowind. I dislike the combat system and the control scheme. The only thing GOOD is the graphics. Even the storyline is a little bad. Anyway, does anyone whose had this for Xbox know if it gets good during the game? Right now I'm not too far in and I'm bored with it, but if it gets interesting later on, I'll keep playing.
KBell Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 wait until you're about an hour into the game. The story developes alot more, trust me
Boba Rhett Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 The first planet is kinda boring but after that it gets really really good. The story may seem bad at first but it's actually one of the best I've seen. Probably the best, in fact. It's not as open ended as Morrowind is but it is truly great fun.
Chewbacco Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 I think it's great! After I played it for the first Hour of two, a lot more action came into the game. And yes, the story does get better when you become a Jedi. I have it on Xbox.

Play it trust me I hated it at first but now I love it. I played it eight times. Its a very fun game and can be puzzling at times to. definatley beat it with both sides of force.
Jedi Luke Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 I got my copy the day before it was released. I thought it wasnt too bad at the start but then as the story started developing, its awesome. I'm going for the glory of the Dark Side!!!, then when thats done, i'll start again going for the light. How about you guys?
DarkLord60 Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 Some ppl may work for a store who get them a day ahead of time like most stores do and they get to take them home early
obi Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 Beat it on Xbox with 100% light side. Awesome game. It's one of my favorite games.
Jedi Luke Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 How did you get it the day before? Warez? Nah, my mate works at Video Gameplay, they got the copies in 2 weeks before. I purchased it from my mate 10% off the day before. No warez (the real things much better). Was pretty lucky to get it early.

Anyway, I've gotten farther into KOTOR.. The controls are still a bit odd, and I'm disappointed that I have to sit by and watch the fights, instead of actually doing them. I thought it was interesting how you had to take that jedi test and choose the lightsaber color... But I have a question.. How do you come across those 'extra' crystals? Does the game give them to you? (IE: After you beat a boss, you find one.) In other words, every player of KOTOR will end up getting that crystal.. OR.. Do you find them in the environment? (IE: Side-mission, hidden places, etc). Or both?

Well, I've seen and heard some geat things, and I watched one of my coworkers play it at work, but I am gonna hold off until x-mas and have somone give it to me
Sam Fisher Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 FLaM-DraG, in response to your question: You also get crystals for killing Dark Jedi and the like. Also, kill the Mandolorian leader, and get two extra sabers, he's on Dantooine. I have gone though about 12 hours of it already, and I think its great.
Jedi Luke Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Originally posted by Troopr-Undr-Fir does that mean you make babies with them . Make babies with them?? . Mines the real thing, no copy. Originally posetd by FLaM-DraG Nowadays the warez stuff are copies of the original. Yes that's true but my mate had a warez copy of Jedi Academy (months before its release). I was going to grab a copy but there were a lot of bugs and glitches in the warez version. Things like: Tauntauns in Hoth level didnt animate: You would ride them and nothing will animate, they would just be still, with the tauntauns and swoop vehicles, you could never turn your saber off (ie you would press 'key' to turn it off, but it would just ignite straight away again), Luke's face describing describing the mission instead of Kyle's would appear (sometimes no face would appear), plus many more. I couldnt be bothered getting that dodgy warez version so i purchased the real thing off my mate at Video Gameplay (a week before release).
BongoBob Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 No, what he means is if he's your mate(IE, wife or husband), not your mate(friend). He's just making a sick joke. And you're really lucky to have someone that can get you discounts and early releases. I am hopefully gonna get a job at gamespot or something when I turn 16.

Troopr-Undr-Fir Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 I was making a joke , lol I got to take JA home an hour before it was released, does that count?
FLaM-DraG Posted November 23, 2003 Author Posted November 23, 2003 I couldnt be bothered getting that dodgy warez version so i purchased the real thing off my mate at Video Gameplay (a week before release). It wasn't a 'dodgy' warez version. It was just the BETA so it had a lot of problems. If you don't believe me, find someone who was really a beta tester for the game and they'll confirm it. And where exactly is the Mandalorian Leader on Dantooine? I went all over that place (Amazing graphics by the way). I remember I found 2 speeders with a bunch of people nearby in the wilderness.. I killed them and took everything, so I guess I got the stuff? I found the caves with the crystals in them. I'm impressed with the whole lightsaber system (Color changing option, plus the 'booster' crystals). You'd expect a basic "Lightsaber kills everything with 1 swing, that's it" system. But BioWare managed to RPG-tize the lightsaber. And I just finished beating the pod racer times on Tatooine. You can make a lot of money with those racing tokens

Btw, i'm guessing you're a drummer Flam, how long have you been playing?
Jedi Luke Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Same here i started about 5 years ago. I've got a 5-piece Pearl Export Series kit at the moment. With Sabian (Pro Sonix) cymbals consisting of 14' Hi-hats, 16' Crash, 20' Ride, 18' China cymbal and pretty soon i'm getting a 10' splash. I play lots of styles including metal, rock, funk, latin, jaz, etc. How about you?
