Monthly events are content - there is no content! lol.

Cries of Alderaan was supposed to be a monthly event but now it seems to be every 3 months. Lame @ $14 a month

Oh and if any one says that they are too busy sorting out bugs - my case is rested ;-)

I've got to agree with DMUK. I have lost all interest in the game. I was going to work toward Jedi, but what was the point. I started to work toward bounty hunter, but I find my self just killing things for XP not for a content. I fell into just character creation, not having fun. There needs to be more to the game than just getting you skill level up, but that's all this game seems to offer.

maybe it's me--

but it occurs to me that if you are pissed about something and cant deal with it, if you cant make the best of something, then why in christs good name are you still around?

if you're so disenfranchised with a thing, why do you find it necessary to continue to associate yourself with that thing?

are you trying to mitigate some deep seated neurosis predicated on just how horribly you were dissappointed, or are you trying to gain sympathy by crying loudly and bitterly in public? how does you're bitching about the game AFTER YOU HAVE ALREADY LEFT IT benefit you or anyone else involved? now, think about this carefully before you reply in an even pissier mood...what is the real practical benefit of a life in this forum dedicated to nothing but bitching?

this is a truly serious question you should ask yourselves. if this game has disappointed you so horribly that every post you make is a complaint, why havent you pulled out and moved on to something more satisfying? seriously. find something you CAN enjoy and post in that forum all day long.

just dont make me read through your "i gave them money so they have to kiss my ass" routine. after 50 or so posts, THAT"S the most boring thing. not the game.

i read this forum for info and help and even entertainment. not prats' rants.

oh hey, did i just rant?

I just love unconstructive posts like that. Nice one.

Why am I still here? To make sure people like you don't brain wash people into believing that Galaxies is a good game - I make sure they hear both sides of the arguement and Im sure they are smart enough either way to decide.

And resorting to cussing will just result in a ban next time.

I wouldn't call SWG thee best game there is (but I will still call it good), however it has much potential. I think 2 major downs on this game are as follows...

1. The bugs.

2. Lack of content in some aspects.

...I'm not the kind to blantly state that "there is no content at all", there are many things you can do, think up, and actually host to benefit the community. But I'm not a dumby, there are some things lacking (content wise).

For example, would it be interesting if they just had a few LONG and DEEP interesting quests? Yet again, when people are done with them... they'll just spam all the secrets with everyone else.

Or an NPC raid of Stormtroopers once in a while? Or make certain cities/towns on certain planets as "hell on earth" type atmosphere. Half the town/city is in ruins, there is constant battle here and there. Of course, that would somewhat describe Anchorhead and Bestine.

I don't know, all I can say is... something is missing. I just can't really put my finger on it.

its called a creative foward thinking team of people to make the game worth playing. Its that simple.

so you're telling us you're a crusader.

you have found something so horrible it is now your holy mission in life to prevent it from happening to anyone else. and you said I was being unconstructive? unconstructive? i asked a very specific question. since when are questions unconstructive.

but thats not my real point. my ultimate point is in just about any other aspect of life, when you are fed up with it you leave, dissacociate, take off, leave it in the dust. if this was some horrible crime rather than a game, i could see trying to turn people away from it. if this was some epidemic, i could see dedicating your life to raising awareness.

but it's a game. im simply trying to understand why you continue to invest the time and effort and emotional energy rather than find something new.

i mean, it's almost a soap opera or a knitting circle in here. "they angered me, so now i must detroy them" it's like high school, when someone turned on you and you spread all kinds of stories about them to discredit them. (not that you're telling stories--bugs are there, devs devs dont appear at any rate to be listening terribly closely.)

so to the brainwashing thing. im afraid if you check every one of my posts you wont find any that say "ignore it all it's FABULOUS!!!" not even close. so dont try to act like im some kind of sycophant to the devs.

the simple honest fact is that you come across as the brooding, bruised, angry guy in the corner of the party that wont take off. clearly, since you're 3000+ miles away, i have nothing personal against you--and cant be certain you're like that IRl--but if you look back at what you've written, that's exactly the image that comes across.

you've spent your money and, in your honest opinion(i believe) you got burned. well, the same thing happens buying a car or a discman or a tv--but how often do you see people going off on crusades about a discman. they say to themselvs "...not gonna buy THAT brand again..." and then they got to the store and get another brand.

now, since you're a moderator, you can do as you please. no ones trying to take that away from you. im not asking you to never post again and take off. im asking why you havent. im not engaging in the classic argumentative ploy of "pose a question and make them look like a hypocrite or a non thinker." im trying to understand the point of sticking around. you stated your point. now im trying to understand the point itself.

DarthMaulUK- I think you really have a bad attitude about this game. You found it uninspired, but there are lots of people who like it. This game doesn't just give you the good things in it, you have to get there, and getting there is half the fun.

And you seem awfully certain that this game is in fact terrible and that no body should ever touch it. You KNOW for a fact that no one should play. Well, obviously you're wrong, considering all the people who are playing and enjoying.

About SOE, you don't know what they're doing. They may actually be a whole bunch of lazy people, or jerks, but there could just maybe be some other reason for it all. It could be anything, not laziness.

On another note, people really need to stop complaining about some things. People say the bugs need to be fixed immediately, then they say new features need to be added, then they say they need to fix the bugs in the new features (that they themselves caused to be rushed), then they need more content, then they complain that they're too busy putting out new stuff to fix the bugs. MAKE UP YOUR MINDS!!!!

I totally agree. The general public are confusing the Devs.

Matsui - you have claimed to read the forums, so i suggest that you read the posts I have made about the game.

Yes Im dead bitter about Galaxies because i was looking so forward to it and like many have been let down. Im not going to re-explain why.

I 'hang around' here to offer help and support when i can as I probably know more about the ingame problems than anyone here and probably more than the CSRs do.

Alot of people just tell me to shut up, without any valid arguement to my points, apart from Tatoo I think a few others who have joined in the debate about the game and where it might succeed and where it falls short.

Its funny how that I am not the only one complaining about the game, alot of computer magazines here are keeping one eye on the game and walking away a little disappointed. This is supposed to be Star Wars and cast your mind back to the original brief about Galaxies - no grinding for xp so 'not just the power gamer can join in the fun'...well that soon vanished as you spend hours of grinding to get xp.

As for the bugs in the game - releasing stuff knowing that theres bugs in it is bad. Everyone does it though and then they patch it up. But its when the serious bugs (like exiting the gaming world for example) are left in the game - a known issue and they havent bothered to fix it really sucks.

People complain only about the bugs that they have encountered and they feel, quite rightly so, that it needs addressing asap...after all, they are paying for this so making certain fixes a priority is never going 2 be easy..unless of you course, you already know the scale of bugs - like SOE do.

Lets just see how Galaxies fairs in a years time...if anyone left is playing it.

I started the game about a week before christmas, on corelia at some far out city with nobody in it, I wasn't allowed to start in coronet so it was Guba something for me. I wandered around and saw a few things, killed a couple of things, started to "grind" for exp. Then I got bored and lonely, like Appro, thought "sod this" and did a long run down to coronet, meeting a couple of nice people, who gave me stuff, on the way.

I felt the difference straight away, lots of people around- yes laggy in the market area near the star port where annoying people shout things whilst AFK taking up valuable bandwidth- however I started to enjoy the game far more, I picked up a fair few new skills i went from scout to scout/medic/artisan/marksman. I started talking to people and forming hunting groups, we traded skills and languages. Instead of grinding the levels, I started building up across the board slowly, my char became rounded- a jack of all trades (as yet master of none!!). That is the beauty of the SWG skill system, when I want or can specialise I'll trade in my old skills.

My christmas holocron said Architect so I started doing more surveying and tinkering, a grind? No, I found surveying a very social thing- with those not AFK, I met some really nice people- I brushed up on my german and french a couple of times too.

SWG is not exactly what I would have expected at first it was a disappointment but it's real people that make it different, you don't have to grind- you can have fun without grinding.

Oh and DarthMaulUK- I'd like to thank you, you do have a major downer on SWG (I've had no real bugs as yet), but by sticking around on the forums you've let people know what the game can be like and also you've provided a lot of support on technical issues which was greatly appreciated.:D

ive been playing since the first chance i had to get on when the servers first came up, i really love this game, because i have a lot of friends playing...if you try to play this game without any friends it wont be fun at all, and most mmorpgs are like that

get some of your friends to play it, or try making some friends in the game and it will be a lot more fun

and what is this vehicle bug you speak of?

I am still playing the game but i am still frustrated.

There should be a book with the game that explains everything and i mean everything that goes on in game.

Its not good enough that you have to go look through forums and maybe buy a book to find out the oh so many hidden parts of the game.

What i mean by this is things like meeting Jabba the Hut, Luke skywalker etc., how do i go about this?, and also they have finally added the POI section to the datapad, after 6 months or so gaming, how were we supposed to know where the warren was before?, telepathy??.

Also i dont understand the stats and technicalities of items like which weapons are good which armor is good

There are loads of other things that arent properly explained in the manual that are kept hidden from me.

Also, a question, as a swg subscriber why do i need to be a sw fan club member as well to view the official forums?, or did i get that wrong?, it wont let me sign up unless im a fan club member.

Not a problem. I probably know more about some of the problems than anyone here ;-) although I admit not having played now for a while, i might not know all of the current issues but a couple of guys at work tell about how bad it is everyday - which keeps me smiling.

Recently, i was told of Strykers store on dantooine bringing down the servers. The bazaar didnt work, and it took 20 minutes to open a vendor screen then 30 minutes to retrieve one item... cool or what?!
