Alright - this is a puzzeling one and I hope it makes sense.

My parents bought a really nice brand new as fast as it gets computer. Well it justs shuts down whenever the hell it feels like it and restarts. It says something along the lines of a mini dump. I have no idea why it'd be doing this.

Help?

Mini dump is an actual Windows file folder. Sounds like it is looking for a file or folder that is either not there, or corupt. If it was just bought it, I'd exchange it, why settle for hassles this early on? Usually you get more problems on older machines. Another option, would be to reinstall the OS from a clean intall. That would take more time, than just taking the damn thing back and exchanging it. Or if your running Windows XP, there may be a quick fix. I will vouch that Microsoft DOES have some excellent tech support. Go ahead and give them a call before you do anything, most of the time, they will stay on the phone with you, until the problem is resolved.

if its brand new then it should be under warranty. you should just take it back to the shore or wherever it was brought.

well this is what i would do...

firstly, check to see if there are any (!) in the device listings.

right click my computer > properties > harware > device manager

that should tell you if there are any conficts are wrong drivers installed.

if that doesn't work then I would go though them all and re-install all the drivers

if that doesn't work then i would run scandisk & defrag as they may be a system file in a bad cluster.

if that doesn't work... format the hard disk and re-install windows.
