kingdomwinds
whats the default frame cap in JA? i set the max framerate as 300 in jediacademy. after about a hour of playing, the game takes longer to load and framerate is jerky. my pc specs are athlon 2800+ xp, 512 ram, 9800 pro 128mb. Is this normal to happen or not? also whenever i do force push or pull, my framerate frops as hell. is this suppose to happen with ati cards? i have the latest drivers and all. this never happened on my laptop. and it has a crappier card
acdcfanbill
firstly,t eh default cap is 85 and the effect that can slow your computer down considerably, at least mine, with an ati card, is the spawn bubble, push/pull effects and hte force boon effect. you can get around that by setting teh cvar cg_rendertotexturefx to 0 you can find an excellent guide to optimising your JA config here all credit for this goes to mjz of image, but its a great guide, a friend easily doubled his normal fps on his less than extreem system
Andy867
The only command that I must disagree with is the com_hunkmegs in that guide. according to a gameplay programmer at Raven, the problem with using HunkMegs is that it dips into the virtual memory which can cause more performance loss than gain
Crow_Nest
If 300 lags after an hour of playing, try 500. I dont get any jerk after 2 hrs of playing.
kingdomwinds
it lags after playing with very high tex. but with just high tex its fine. i think very high tex is a strain on my pc.
Crow_Nest
It will overheat your video card, and could damage it. So play on high instead of very high
Andy867
actually, setting the com_maxfps anything about 120 will cause lag, so increasing it from 300 to 500 will cause more problems than correcting just one. So just set the com_maxfps to 120 and play from there.
Crow_Nest
Dont think so, i always play at 500 and i get a slight fps boost + no lag.
