toenail1
do you think the destruction of Camaas will be in Ep. 3? i heard ep. 3 ends 18 years before ANH, and that is when the destruction of Camaas takes place too
darth small
The destruction of Camaas is Expanded Universe(the books, video games, comics, and cartoons).GL doesn't consider the EU real star wars( only the movies) While it would be cool, I don't we will see it
toenail1
he cant just throw the EU stuff away, it exists and he has to make sure its okay before they can make it, so he obviously believes in it but i was hoping it would be in there just to make the movie one step darker and more twisted (so it will be for adults, like star wars should be)
Lynk Former
Originally posted by toenail1 he cant just throw the EU stuff away, it exists and he has to make sure its okay before they can make it, so he obviously believes in it Oh yes he can. He could destroy the entire EU side of Star Wars if he wanted to. He has the power lol. Ultimately it's HIS vision.
toenail1
we all hate NJO, thats actually the reason why i stopped reading star wars books and he already approved all the EU stuff, so he obviously does like it, its already been written he cant just get rid of it (that would also be suits for a lwasuit i believe) If lucas includes any of that EU crap in Ep.3 I swear I'll hunt Lucas down myself. are you kidding me? EU stuff is amazing, without it star wars would be nothing, EU expands so much more and the destruction of Camaas is def. not crap either (if you think it is you obviously have never read any of the books that involved it)
DSettahr
Actually, there will be an EU character in episode III. No word yet on who it is, but I'm betting it will be Garm Bel Iblis.
Lynk Former
About the only things Lucas has really acknowledged are the things Timothy Zahn has come up with or used.
wassup
Lucas can do whatever the hell he wants with the SW franchise because he owns the rights. To him, the EU is just "there", doesn't mean he has acknowledged it as canon. And I agree with Chase, most of the EU is repetitive and unoriginal (another superweapon, another set of dark jedi, etc.). It loses the epic feeling of the movies. That is why I prefer the NJO, though it does take a different direction to recapture that sense.
toenail1
and i think timothy zahn did come up with the destruction of camaas (i cant remember the author but it might have been him)
ET Warrior
Originally posted by toenail1 are you kidding me? Without star wars EU would be nothing. I like a great deal of EU, but it has it's place. In books and comics and video games. Keep it OUT of the movies. The destruction of Camaas would not only be pointless, it would also be difficult to explain. First, lets set up an entire race of peaceloving creatures. Then lets destroy their planet. Not only would it be purposeless, it would take away the meaning of the destruction of alderaan in episode 4, where we learn for the first time how TRULY evil the empire is. toenail1
its amazing how a simple comment can spawn so much hate... and star wars WOULD be nothing if there was no EU, it would just be all that you saw on the big screen, which isnt much plus by saying EU sucks, your saying that the galaxy only has about 50 planets, only the ones mentioned in the movies its perposterous
Darth Darthy
and star wars WOULD be nothing if there was no EU You are aware how dunce that comment is, right? And I'd say the comment about 50 planets is also rather silly - who do you think all those senators in the senate represent?
dark jedi 8
i think theirs at least 1,002 (maybe more) different pods in the senate. and that may only cover a single system. like naboo has more than one planet in its system but they are all represented by naboo's senator, amidala. in a galaxy, their are thousands of systems each w/ dozens of planets. sure the E.U. expands on some of their history but w/out the galaxy (star wars) thier would be no need for the explanation (E.U.). WINNAR!!! And I NEVER said EU sucks. I enjoy many of the star wars EU books. But that is where they should remain. IN the books. They have no place in the movies. feels just like a couple years ago in the episode 2 forum, me defending the movies against the EU invaders

After Episode 2 came out the EU comics had to go back and make the story fit with the movie. btw, has anyone read the new timothy zahn starwars book yet? OptimusPrime75
Yes, Zahn's new book is quite spiffy. Already posted my comments on it in the EU section post 'Outbound Flight'
BobaJango
The ONLY good EU books I read were the Thrawn Trilogy/series and the Bounty Hunter wars. Possibly Dark Empire 2, but mostly everything else is worthless. Kyle Katarn had a good thing going on him too, till they Ruined it with Jedi Academy. Darth Darthy
Actually, the Dark Forces books were pretty good, better then most of the EU crap out there. They weren't nearly as cheesey as the game and had some good characterisation and action. Kyle's relationship with his father was expanded on and gave depth to an otherwise pointless plot point. I never found any past book 2 though - did they ever make 3,4,5 and 6?
Scrodo_Saggins
there's Dark Forces novels? really? how come i never heard of them oh btw, i just finished Survivors quest... SWEET
BobaJango
Lets all not forget how Mr Zahn stated in his Thrawn Trilogy that the planet of the Noghri (cant spell the planet so i wont ) was mutilated in a space battle during the clone wars.
