I can't imagine that they wouldn't allow at least the same number of players at one time as UT2K4. That game has already essentially set the current bar for what a multiplayer Internet FPS should be (IMHO).

I'm hoping that fast enough servers will support, minimally, 32 players, and up to 64.

128 would be teh r0xx0r, although you'd need a phat pipe and a liquid-cooled server to do it. :D

i beat you to it with about 5 hours ;)

the player count is a mistake. It's clearly 32 for pc on internet

Yes, according to another article I read somewhere the player limits are as follows:

XBox: Internet - 16 | LAN - 32

PC: Internet - 32 | LAN - 64

I'm assuming it will be possible to push it up to 64 via Internet, if there is a facility for low ping only. That seems to work well in Enemy Territory.

I have played on servers that have 64 players at a time and I will tell ya it just lags and lags. When characters or vechiles bunch up together it just gums things up. A nice balance is 32 because enough players are spread out. I have never tried LAN but I am sure it has probably 90% less lag than an internet game.

Cant wait to stomp on someone with an ATAT:atat:

In a LAN there is barely any lag.

It all depends on the size of the maps. If it's big then 64 won,t lag too much since people are pretty spread out. But if it's a close combat map then yeah it will lag like hell.
