Artoo
OK, I know we have a few computer experts credited and uncredited out there, so here's a new problem that maybe someone can tackle. My enter key stopped working as you can tlel from the lack of line spacing in this. At first it just stopped making IM's send and conducting Google searches, yesterday, but today it even stopped spacing downward a line, and this is not good considering the homework that I get done with Word. Somoeone please help me!
pbguy1211
Keyboard could jusy be dying. Do you use the one over the shift key? (I'm assuming so) Also, do you have a numberpad on the right side of your keyboard? Could you use the one over there? It simply sounds like your board is dying. Though you could try to open it up and clean it too.
Boba Rhett
Did you try pulling off the top and seeing if there are any obvious problems with the lil' numb? Like not raising?
Artoo
Well, I've tried the other enter key and it does not function, this keyboard is only a few months old, and I haven't pried the keys off yet. Is there a good way to go about that? Edit: I pried the key off, nothing is obstructing the nub, and the nub is also not making the enter key function when I press it with other objects. Darth Homer
probably just got a defective keyboard, sucks that it's a few months old as most warranties have probably expired. Me, I got a MS Internet explorer keyboard a few years ago, spilled apple juice on it once and besides having to pop the keys off & clean them after a bit, it has worked perfectly regardless. Survived 3 moves, 2 different computers, & a couple spills, all the buttons still do the right stuff. Now if my wireless mouse had held up that long, I'd be set...gotta run our to best buy or somewhere soon to get a new optical mouse, this ball-mouse is horrible! Artoo
Hehehehehehehehe, not Dell's premium warranty, especially considering it's a Dell keyboard. I know get to make use of their famous tech support system. I just wish it wouldn't ahve happened while working on work that is due tomorrow, you know? Darth Homer
oooh, yeah that does suck... on the up side I got a new poster for my apartment today! Van Gogh's La Nuit Etoile A St Remy (Starry Night) yay me!
Tie Guy
I had a similar (maybe) problem with mine a while ago. My control key stopped working. I eventually found out that it was a key binding error or something and through means i'm still not sure about, i managed to move the problem to the less important alt key. So...it may not be a keyboard issue at all. It may be some sort of virus or glitch in the system or whatnot. Then again, it may be the keyboard after all.... darthfergie
You prolly killed it. I've seen you type before...Suprised you don't have a stockpile of keyboards in your closet and go through at least one a day. I couldn't hit the enter key that hard if I was using a sledge hammer. j/k On a side note, I'm callin the cops to report a theft of Van Gogh's "Stary Night" from the museum... Artoo
By some divine intervention the blasted thing works again as some of you can tell by my MSN title. I popped the thing back on and it just started functioning for some reason. Anyways, thanks for all suggestions, I was wondering if it was an option or lockup in the software, but I guess it was in the hardware itself. MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Now that my enter key is back I can continue my quest for world domination, beginning with framing Homer for the theft of "Starry Night."
Darth Homer
*steathily returns Starry Night to museum* What the cops don't know is that is a very good forgery. *what Darth Homer doesn't know is that he mixed up the two and actually put the original back* Wait, what's that? Dang it...
