You should use spoiler tags for stuff like that. here's another similarity:

Revans interrogation/Lea's interrogation

both resisted torture and lied to the sith about what planet to attack, but the planets they were protecting were destroyed anyway.

Retreat to Dagoba – retreat to Dantooine

Luke and Revan take a break from the action to go off to be trained by the Jedi masters.

Obiwan and Yoda debate training Luke / Vandar and Varook debate training Revan.

The Jedi show reluctance to train the main characters. Both are “too old” to be trained and yet “exceptions” are made in both cases.

“Loss” of Obiwan – “Loss” of Bastilla

A Jedi main character “sacrifices” self so that Luke can escape the Death Star and Revan can escape the Leviathon.

Return of Obiwan – Return of Bastilla

Both sacrificed Jedi characters show up again later in the story.

Actually, the story line of the original Star Wars movie is quite formulaic in regard to the struggles of the hero in an epic story of good vs. evil. Its would seems that the writers of KoTOR purposefully used many of the same elements used in the original Star Wars movie and to good effect I might add.

What you are seeing are parallel elements from the same formula used in two different, but obliquely related, story lines. In the case of KoTOR, the appearance of ‘copycat’ writing actually serves to lend a greater depth to the game and lends a sense of history repeating itself. The rise and fall of the Rakatan Empire and the several rises and falls of the Sith since ancient times serve to set the stage. We see all these rises and falls of evil in the game and in the background of our thoughts we know that 4,000 years later Luke will be involved in thwarting yet another rise of the Sith.

The story in the game works well because we can’t help but sense the inherent truth behind it. The struggle between good and evil is never ending. New faces and names appears at regular intervals throughout history to take up the same ancient struggle. This goes back to the dawn of recorded history in our own civilization and is being played out even today in current world events.

I like how Jolee actually says something similar to that in a conversation with Carth.

I think it got that warm-fuzzy-familiar feel down quite well, apart from Malak a bit. Just a bit too comically evil on that one and the head/breath/jaw piece, though it did work out with the scene where his aide comes to address him and he turns to reveal his ugly mug - similar to ESB(I think).
