Nute Gunray
Originally posted by Philocleon Interesting Roman name there, Nute. How'd you come up with it? Sextus was just a cool sounding praenomen. I don't really have any reason why I chose it other than I like how it sounds in front of the rest of it. Most of the praenomen are pretty lousy. Most of the nomen suck, so I picked one of the cooler sounding ones (Aurelius). I also thought about Valerius, but chosing that name had implications with gens Valerii. Eleven of the later emperors were Valerii, including such notables as Diocletian, Maxentius, and Constantine I. While Aurelius is known for Marcus Aurelius, he adopted the name Aurelius and wasn't actually an Aurelius by birth. The cognomen Magnus is so that when people'd meet me and I'd be introduced as Aurelius Magnus they'd think "Wow he must kick six different kinds of ass before lunch with a name like Magnus." Unfortunately, such names, while intended as a personality descriptor, can be inherited and people might thinK i was somehow related to the famous Pompey (Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus). I decided to give myself a agnomen too, so that I could be cool like Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus. I picked Germanicus (which was also the agnomen of the man would would be father of Tiberius and grandfather of Caligula). The idea is that I'm some kind of civilized barbarian from Germania, hence Germanicus and explaining why I've got a good six inches on even the tallest Romans. Thus is born Sextus Aurelius Magnus Germanicus.
Philocleon
Actually Nute, I checked for Tiberius and it turns out his father did not have the name Germanicus. His father was Tiberius Claudius Nero as far as I know.

Roman family trees are complex with all that adopting and unadopting and multiple wifes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:JulioClaudian.png

Dr Edison 007
I think that the militia is dead, or maybe, just maybe ZoomRabbit started with out us.
edlib
Zoomie disappears unexpectedly, and without explanation from time to time, usually for several months. We're all used to it by now, and I rarely notice it until he reappears again. Of course, this particular forum is so dead that one member missing for a while is hardly news anymore... the same could be said of almost all our "regulars." Keyan Farlander
I'm always here. Even if I don't post for a while, I'm always reading. I like to keep a careful watch on everyone in case somebody dies, so I can feast on his remains give him a nice burial.
edlib
I check in every day as well,.. although I'm not the type to start threads so much, so I don't see activity here, I tend to move on. I've become a bit of a Forum Crawler,.. splattering bits of wisdom and whimsy around in random divey off-topic hang-outs in the seedy parts of the Lucasforums neighborhood. Nute Gunray
This is the first time I've even bothered looking around these parts for some time. Its not what it was five years ago and I think I've moved on in life. Working a lot, getting ready to move out of the parents house, all that sorta stuff. Rebel Loyaltist
I'm here everyday during high activey and check every now and then during the drought periods. I wish this forum would return to it's glory days though, hope some new X-Wing release by Lucasarts would do the trick.
Dr Edison 007
I check about every other day, but since this place is kind of like an insider club there isn't much for me to say. Atleast it isn't as inside as Aresen.

That is the game I would like to see beyond any other game. Forget Doom III, forget Half-Life 2, I want another X-Wing game. And it would have the added side effect of more traffic here. But then again, the best times in this forum really didn't have much to do with the game.
Rebel Loyaltist
I wholeheartedly agree, with todays computer abilites the game would not only be stunning to see but also have many features that X-Wing Alliance could've only dreamed to have had, not to mention a bigger multiplayer game. And if they made it as immersive as Tie Fighter then it'd capture everyone's "Best Game of All Time Award" like Tie Fighter and Jedi Knight before it. Kylilin
Wow, imagine reenacting the battle of Yavin, but instead of having computer controlled ships, everyone controls their own, that would be sweet. Plus I'd get shot down in the first ten seconds.
edlib
I outlined a few rough ideas about what I'd like to see in a future X-Wing game in this thread: http://66.90.64.18/showthread.php?s=&threadid=132785 It's about time Lucasarts throws us a bone... but I'd rather them not do it at all if they're not going to bother to do it right. Rebel Loyaltist
I mean the other games Lucasarts comes out with are nice and all but damn it's been five years since XWA came out, give us something to play come on now. Space flight is the main attraction of Star Wars and it's time again to feed to rekindle its fire.
Dr Edison 007
I don't think LucasArts likes pleasing its fans.
Keyan Farlander
The sad fact of the matter is that nobody is producing space sims anymore because they just don't sell as well as other genres of games.
Gold leader
Perhaps this new addition to Galaxies could raise some interest in space sims and LA gets the clue when Tie Fighter sales start booming I remember decoy and Defiant and some other X-wing community celebrities working on a space sim project...they even bought a engine IIRC. . . . Got it.. Sadly, it seems the project is dead.
Dr Edison 007
Community celebrities? I'm intrigued.
