A real bargain?

I am low on money at the moment, but I really want to get a new adventure game. So, I noticed that Day of the Tentacle/Sam&Max double pack can be bought again for quite a cheap price.

Are those games worth buying? Okay, maybe that was a silly question... But is the double pack worth its price, 16,95€?

Or maybe I should get the Riven/Myst collection...?

I don't know because I have never played any of these games before. But I heard they are great (without doubts this isn't nothing new for you ;)) So I will say that : They are classic adventure games. And the classic games are worth any of their prize :). For example, Sanitarium.

I think DOTT is a little overrated. As for Sam&Max, it's the most ridiculous, random, pointless thing. Maybe that's why I love it so much. It's just hilarious.

River/Myst are good for the environments, but they're also a bit overrated in the realm of first-person adventures. Best of those are 7th guest and Obsidian. Actually scratch 7th guest, no first-person adventure comes even close to Obsidian.

Heh heh, I found DOTT much better actually. I haven't finished Sam&Max yet, but somehow it didn't appeal to me like Grim and DOTT. To be honest, I find the Carbomb game more entertaining than the game itself! :D

That doesn't mean that I didn't like Sa&Max though. It's excellent, but not as good as some other games I have played.

I've just finished playing through Beyond Good and Evil, and my god - it's excellent. It's a Zelda hybrid of sorts, taking the Zelda formula and expanding it into new areas - such as giving an extremely strong stealth element to the game.

There's also a lot of your usual puzzles in these types of games, which should appeal to the adventure-loving type. The story is also excellent. It's more of a western games, so there's none of that quirky japanese influence you see in games like Zelda.

The game tragically received bad sales due to poor marketing - just like Grim Fandango. Due to this, it's already available for about £20 brand new for any platform - I hear that the xbox version is the best. The graphics are brilliant too.

So yes, if you have the cash please do try out Beyond Good and Evil. I've not spoken to a single person that has regretted it.

I found Beyond Good and Evil, but it was very expensive. I decided to leave bying it for later and got Full Throttle instead. What a marvellous game that is.

At first I thought that as a girl I wouldn't like a game about bikers, but even before the intro had ended I knew I would love every second of it. Odd.

Well, I don't know about the you're talking about, but hopefully you don't find it because Full Throttle is a MUST-HAVE! I am currently replaying it again.

I actually never had an inclination to play Full Throttle again.

Does that mean that I have some sort of mental defiency?

If that means you didn't think it was worth it enough to play it again then yes, yes it does it means you have some sort of deficency.

Or maybe you're not one to play through games again because you play them for the puzzles. That's different. I often play through the games I like a lot multiple times because I play them to inject myself back into that world. Then, you have an excuse.

Replaying is fun. There are some games that never stop amusing me and I play them over and over again. Pokémon games are like that, I don't even want to count how many times I have started them from the beginning and completed with a new team of Pokémon. It's different every time.

Right now I am saving The Dig for replaying. I haven't touched it in a couple of months and I have already forgotten some of the puzzles. It's kinda freaky actually since I remember everything in Grim Fandango by heart.

No, I've played all but Full Throttle again.

I have an urge to play it after reading this so I might go play it right now.

Oh yay. I've gotten somebody to play Full Throttle again. It makes me feel like I've done something good with my life. This must be how a fundamentalist feels after brainwashing somebody...I'm sorry, I mean saving somebody.
