Schetter
The darktrooper - yea, the one with the jet pack - looks like they're going to be no big deal after watching IGN's video (thanks to whoever hooked us up with that) and the three smaller videos just posted. The jet pack is not going to be akin to the jet packs seen in the Secret Weapons expansion of BF:42. In SW, your jetpack had an 'overheat' bar - if that reached the top, it would shut off until it cooled. If you kept control of your heat, you could essentially traverse entire maps while in the air. Not gonna happen here in SW:B. Looks like the jetpacks engage for a limited time, a short burst for a few seconds, and then cuts out and drops you back to the ground. Good. Like the IGN guy said, it'll act more as a 'super-jump' than anything else. Good point number two can be found by looking at the upper right corner by the health bar when viewing footage of the dark trooper. If you haven't noticed already, all the health readings for everthing you're carrying/driving and your currently targeted opponent appear there. Well, for the darktroopers, they have a health bar for their jetpack just below their main health bar. It doesn't appear that the pack takes damage from enemy hits - instead this acts as your fuel gauge for the pack. Each time you use it, your pack drains. From the looks of it, you'll get 4 or 5 jumps before it runs out. You may be able to 'recharge' at an ammo/fuel/recharge/whatever station...we'll see. The other thing I wanted to bring up was my dismay at the 3rd person PC footage. If this game is forced 3rd person on all platforms, I'm gonna be less than happy. BurnsU
Its 1st AND 3rd person, they are just using 3rd to show off the player models in action.
Elite Jedi
WAIT A SEC. If your a droid or storm trooper though 1st POV then you should see things differently.!
TK-8252
What does the Stormtrooper have that the Dark Trooper does not? Trust me, no one is going to want to be a Stormtrooper with the Dark Trooper around. If you played Dark Forces, you'll remember the Dark Trooper being a huge pain in the ass to fight. Elite Jedi
I mean tliek seeing though a visor. Hmm at least have the option to turn it on or off.
joesdomain
I won't use the darktrooper when I play as the empire. Just play as a stormtrooper. I want to recreate battle of tthe star wars trilogy not expanded universe battles.
VanLingo
The stormtrooper will be quicker and has a more rapid-fire and more accurate gun.

Doomie
Hey, this game is based around the movies! 'For years, you've watched the greatest starwars battles, what if you could actually live them?' It's all about the movies. Not only do we know that Rhen Var will be in episode 3 now, but there also can't be a dark trooper in there. Yes, i saw the screenies, but: 1) the dark trooper would be a bit overpowered 2) it's EU 3) nobody would be a normal stormie. So there's no way it would be in there! I refuse to believe that. Thrawn
The Dark Trooper is in the game, period. There are screenshots, movie clips, all showing it in the game. It wouldn't be so overpowered. Afterall, you could blow him away just like anybody else with a vehicle. The DT just has the jet back and rockets I believe. Lots of splash damage, but no accuracy. Schetter
The DT does not have rockets. They have a 'blast cannon' and a pistol. Watch the footage - looks like the blast cannon fires several tight-packed laser rounds in one burst. A different class has the rocket launcher. Originally posted by VanLingo The stormtrooper will be quicker and has a more rapid-fire and more accurate gun. Bingo. Balancing the class out with the DT. If one class was so much better than the others, why play it? The Stormies won't have the pack weighing them down so it's natural that they be a little quicker on the ground. "Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise." It would only make sense that the stormies get a little bit of an accuracy boost with their guns. This is not to say that bolts will magically change course to nail enemies, instead the adjustments will be made to the 'spray' (degree of variance from the crosshair centerpoint when fired - random variable calculated on each shot and is typically increased when firing fully-auto or moving vs. standing still and squeezing off a few shots at a time). It also seems that the DT will have a considerably longer recharge time vs. the stormies, who I expect will be able to fire all their rounds fully auto if they wish. I don't expect 'reloading' to be an issue in this game except for the hard-ammo classes (rocket troops, etc.).
Evil Dark Jedi
I like the Dark Trooper. The jetpack is more like a super jump as seen in a preview.
TK-8252
How can you say that the Stormtrooper is faster than the Dark Trooper if the Dark Trooper has a jetpack? Haven't you watched the films?
Fleab
some people are upset about having a darktrooper in the game because it wasn't even in the films. But they also wish that they added the bothan spy. Something doesnt add up here. Bothans were onloy mentioned once in the film and that was when mon mothma said many bothans died to get this information. We dont even see bothans let alone in action. So why would they be so upset on having DT but so bumbed that they left out the bothans? I'm not trying to be rude I just don't quite get it. TK-8252
I don't want the Bothan either. I am also against the Wookiee being the Rebel's special unit. The only Wookiee ever seen in the movies was, well, Chewbacca.
joesdomain
I was for the Imperial Officer and the Wookie and against the Bothan and Darktrooper. You actually see many Imperial Officers throughout episode IV, V, and VI and chewbacca is in episode IV-VI. You don't see Bothans or Darktroopers. Master William
Originally posted by TK-8252 The only Wookiee ever seen in the movies was, well, Chewbacca. Indeed, and that's him you get to be as a Special Unit. You're not just any Wookiee, even though you'll see Chewbaccas everywhere, the same goes for any game. Jedi Academy's Siege lets the whole team be Boba Fett at the Tatooine map, etc.
reltes
there will be many wookies fighting in episode 3 so there are more that just chewbacca.
TK-8252
Actually the Wookiee in Battlefront is not meant to be Chewie. In Battlefront the Wookiee looks a bit more elderly than Chewie, and he has a different bandolier. Wookiees did work with the Rebellion in many occasions, but never on the front line like in Battlefront. Since they weren't even shown in the movies, you can see how shy the Wookiees are when it comes to the galactic civil war. In Jedi Academy, the characters like Lando, Jan, Chewie, and Boba aren't meant to be those characters, but are just a symbol of the task the class has. Jan was a technican expert, etc., etc.
