Shadowman17
Is it possible, if you have a couple of guys with rocket launchers, to aim at the underside of an AT-AT, fire off a couple of rockets, and bring it down?
yaebginn
I assume so. But I dont know just how powerful the at at is gonna be. I mean, one head shot should do it in the star wars universe, but I dont know how itrs gonna work.
Whoopknacker
Unlike a dog the ATAT doesnt like to have its belly scratched, but my guess is dont count on a couple of rebels with rocket launchers to take one of those puppies down. I would imagine extensive heavy fire will take em down.
yaebginn
but they're shooting proton torpedos. Just one of those puppies blew up the death star. I mean, it should be enough to take down an at at. btw, isnt at-te weird to say? you wanna say at et, but thats not right. so u have two ts in a row. its weird. PanzerTekk
portable proton rockets aren't starship grade explosives. Just like RPG launchers aren't as powerful as a tank shell.
Alegis
seeing luke as npc climb under at-as and take em out would be so awesome

TK-8252
Originally posted by Prime Of course, Luke's proton torpedo hit the reactor core, which helped things a bit. Damn, I wanted to say that. Yeah, the proton torpedo didn't blow up the Death Star. The torpedo blew the reactor, which destroyed the Death Star. What would make you think that shooting the underside of an AT-AT would take it down? The only reason that Luke's grenade actually took the AT-AT down was because first he sliced open the bottom of the AT-AT with his lightsaber, then threw in the grenade, which probably hit some kind of reactor or power generator. Hell, if any infantry torpedo launcher could take down an AT-AT simply by hitting a spot underneath it those things would have been down in a matter of minutes. yaebginn
OMG, I guess its up to me to set you guys straight. Prime, t doesnt matter what it hit, lasers wouldnt have done the job of a torp. It did destroy the death star. Thats like saying, I didnt kill him, the bullet punctured his heart, causing to to stop and etc. RPGs and tank shells are different. They have different names and are used for different purposes, which, in the end comes down to the same purpose, destruction, but still. RPGs are portable and are used by an indivual. Tank shells are more powerful and used by a tank. Proton Torps are the same regularly as they are in launchers. They arent that big normally, and it would be easy to set it to be carried in a launcher. Uf you look at the blueprints of the X-wing,m you can see that its launching tube isnt that much larger than the portable tube carried by the Vanguard Unit. If you take out the extra parts needed to connect it to the rest of the ships systems, and take out the room needed for extra torps and such, it is about the size of the launcher used by the Vanguards. http://massassi.yavin4.com/sw/g_proton.htm booyah, look at the last sentence or two. TK-8252
So you're saying that you could just shoot a torpedo or two at any random spot on the Death Star and the torpedoes will blow it up? No, the reason they aimed the torpedoes into the hole in the trench is so that they'll blow up the REACTOR, which will blow up the rest of the Death Star. yaebginn
right, but a torp did blow up the death star, just because it hit it ina sweet spot doesnt mean its not powerful.
Alegis
a torpedo vs a giant moon out of metal: nothing. thats like attacking someone by moving your arms up andforth in the hope the air will hurt him torpedo in reactor core, kaboom.
yaebginn
Refer to my bullet analogy. What matters is that a torp blew up both death stars. a torp is powerful. even more so han a conc misisle.
Master William
Well, maybe proton torpedos are strong, but that's mostly because of the fact that the core of the Death Star is extremely sensitive, even though the whole DS didnt actually explode
yaebginn
Not, they are srong anyway, the proton torps can easily take out an at-at in the actual Star Wars universe, maybe not in the game, toguh.
Evil Dark Jedi
I think that a torpedoe at the head would take it down because the drivers sit in there but I dont know about the underside of it.
