Of course, Luke's proton torpedo hit the reactor core, which helped things a bit. :)

Damn, I wanted to say that. :p

Yeah, the proton torpedo didn't blow up the Death Star. The torpedo blew the reactor, which destroyed the Death Star.

What would make you think that shooting the underside of an AT-AT would take it down? The only reason that Luke's grenade actually took the AT-AT down was because first he sliced open the bottom of the AT-AT with his lightsaber, then threw in the grenade, which probably hit some kind of reactor or power generator.

Hell, if any infantry torpedo launcher could take down an AT-AT simply by hitting a spot underneath it those things would have been down in a matter of minutes.

OMG, I guess its up to me to set you guys straight. Prime, t doesnt matter what it hit, lasers wouldnt have done the job of a torp. It did destroy the death star. Thats like saying, I didnt kill him, the bullet punctured his heart, causing to to stop and etc. RPGs and tank shells are different. They have different names and are used for different purposes, which, in the end comes down to the same purpose, destruction, but still. RPGs are portable and are used by an indivual. Tank shells are more powerful and used by a tank. Proton Torps are the same regularly as they are in launchers. They arent that big normally, and it would be easy to set it to be carried in a launcher. Uf you look at the blueprints of the X-wing,m you can see that its launching tube isnt that much larger than the portable tube carried by the Vanguard Unit. If you take out the extra parts needed to connect it to the rest of the ships systems, and take out the room needed for extra torps and such, it is about the size of the launcher used by the Vanguards.

So you're saying that you could just shoot a torpedo or two at any random spot on the Death Star and the torpedoes will blow it up? :roleyess:

No, the reason they aimed the torpedoes into the hole in the trench is so that they'll blow up the REACTOR, which will blow up the rest of the Death Star.
