map ideas?

I know that mod/map editing tools are a little while off (not too long hopefully), but i was wondering what you guys had in mind for maps that you would like to see or do when pandemic does release the tools.

 

I stated in another thread that i would like to do some maps based off the clone wars cartoon. I think a really great map would be where the republic attacks that city and the arc troopers have to fight throughout the city in order to secure that huge tower.

 

Another map would be the battle of calamari with the star destroyers on the water and you fight against the seperatists under water. How i can get that to work would be a good question, though as i just thought of it. Plus i think it would be awesome to have kit fisto fight alongside you somehow.

 

One more idea i had was one based off the omaha beach map in bf 1942 only with that star wars feel. i would have skiffs and speeders to ride toward the beach as opposed to boats. Also i would need a large sail barge or a star destroyer for republic troops to spawn from. Then i'd have seperatists instead of nazis shooting from towers down at republic troops. Also instead of a tank, i'd have seperatist tanks. I would also implement vehicles that take off from the barges or star destroyers.

 

I have more ideas that i'm writing down that will hopefully make it into the map pack. A big factor for these getting made is the ease of use of the editor, as hopefully we can drag and drop certain aspects to make building maps easier. Also i would hope that people jump on the bandwagon and make new models and such as i have no experience in modelling. If someone could make a scale size republic star destroyer that would be great, although it doesn't have to have that much detail but just enough for it to look recognizable and have troops run round in it. I made quite a few unreleased test maps for JA, though so i do have a bit of experience in terms of level design, layout, and a bit of scripting so hopefully no worries there.

 

Another thing i will emphasize is scale as i want these maps really big so that you can have room to dogfight and not leave the map easily and have to traverse a bit in order to get to the battle. Imagine speeding across the ocean in a speeder bike, whie being shot at by enemy forces. doesn't that sound awesome? You can't really do that in the retail game but the vehicles and weapons are there so i know it can be done. Also it would be nice to know if anyone knows the mile radius of some of the bigger maps in bf 1942 so i can make same size maps.

A Coruscant urband-assault map or series of maps. Windows/buildings/streets/alleys and maybe a sewer thrown in. Would be sweet.

 

Some all-inside maps would be interesting but only limited.

 

Maps that balance assault situations, # of CPs, and terrain. For instance, have one side with two CPs and the high ground and defenses and the other side has multiple CPs (5 maybe), the low ground, and more vehicles.

 

Maps with only air vehicles. Each side starts on a side where they can't hit each other and with a ton of vehicles and the only way to kill each other is to get in a ship, dog fight, or fly to the other platform. CPs would be located on various platforms on each side.

I would like to see a re-created Dune Sea map. One where the Sarlacc Pitt is out in the middle of nowhere, with Jabba's Barge hovering off to the side and a significant downward slope into the pit so that you would fall and roll into the Pitt if knocked unconscious (Make it more similar to the movie. Also I would like to see y-wings and tie-bombers included in a map like this. Who really cares about dogfighting with tie-fighters and x-wings. What would be more fun is to bomb infantry on the sand dunes below. Just an idea!

Map ideas for MODs or an official expansion pack:

 

A dogfighting map. A droid controller ship on one side, a Republic "mini-star-destroyer" on the other, each with bays to spawn pilots and launch fighters into the void. You could even use a water cube to encompass the entire area in between the bays so that if you jump out of your ship while in space, you die. ;) Eradicate the enemy, or board and capture the enemy ship — that fits the gamplay mechanic. Would work similarly well during the fleet battle around Endor with ISDs and Calimari cruisers.

 

A gungan city map. A whole bunch of those underwater shield bubble things we see in Ep1 for a Kamino/Bespin platforms style map. Droiddeka can't survive underwater, so they'd be limited to connective passages filled with air; other troops would be able to use bongos to move between bubbles safely, or risk a quick run between the bubbles at the cost of health while exposed to water. An Opee Seakiller would be a nice replacement for a Sarlaac on this sort of map too... :)

 

Geonosis Droid Foundary interior as a Bespin City type skirmish map. We didn't see any fighting in there in the movies, but then again, there wasn't any fighting on Kamino either (AND the battle could have easily carried on down into the foundary during the "Assembly area" battle.)

 

A Geonosis Arena map could easily be set up like the Yavin Temple, with command points on either side of the arena bowl and others in the arena wall honeycombs. The arena critters would make for some really neat environmental hazards too... :D (Kind of like hero units, but for the "native" faction so that they attack both Clones and Geonosians/Droids.)

2 Maps.

 

Death Star- Surface and Trench Run. Come on! That would be cool! If you are Imperials you can Man a Turbolaser turret or Take the rebels yourself. If you are the rebels the easy way to win is by flying down the trench and shooting proton torpedoes down there. But it wont be that easy. The Turbolaser Turrets would be Merrily Firing Away At You, and If the Imperials Do a certain Objective, Lord Vader will personally see to your destruction. Once the Death Star Is in Range of Yavin IV BOOM! Empire Wins!

 

Death Star 2- Interior and Exterior. The Emperors Throne Room with that pesky Shaft, the Reactor Core and The Superlaser Firing Room. Heroes would be:

Luke Skywalker

Darth Vader

The Emperor

The Exterior would be Like The First Death star, But incomplete and instead of the trench, that large pipe going directly to the reactor core. If the rebels blow it up, Victory! If too many rebel ships are destroyed...GAME OVER
