Saving levels

I am a newbie playing as a Soldier and have just reached the Vulkar Base on Taris. I am saving my levels as I have seen recommended in various guides. I am currently at Level 4. My question is this: when I get to Dantooine, at what specific point in the game do I start leveling up? I want to wait until I am a Jedi so I can get higher Jedi levels, but how do I know when is the best time to start leveling up? Is there a specific part of the game that says “You are now a Jedi, it is time to level up” or do I just wait until after I have left Dantooine to go to another planet?

Also, I have enough XP to get to 6 but I am considering just going to 5. If I go in to level up, will it take me all the way to 6 or will it do just one level at a time so that I can stop at 5?

Thanks,

Keith

umm, do you mean that you save your game after each area you go to???

or have you already leveled up your character to level 4????

for the former, umm, thats a good thing. :)

for the latter, umm, thats good too. :)

as a suggestion, once you level up to about level 4, quit levelling so that you'll get more level ups as a jedi. it will be a bit harder in some areas, but its not impossible. :D

If this is your first time through, I recommend playing it straight up as the designers had intended. Wait until you've played through a couple of times and want to try something new before getting fancy with your gameplay.

Just my 2 cents.

...oh, and yes, it is very obvious when you become a Jedi

if this is your first time then try concentrate on the main mission if you do not then you will forget where you are going so just explore a little. I would also reccomend using melee weapons first although they do not seem powerful it will help you later on.

I must admit the first time i played it i used blasters and rifles right the way through and i felt like han solo but you should learn not to rely on your friends because

A lot of the time you will have to fight alone especially on Korriban where you cannot use bastilla and don't get to use your friends in the end mission on korriban either so beware.

If you want to save levels just don't level up untill you're forced to (when you become a jedi), it's as simple as that. But you should consider leveling up at a normal rate if it's the first time you're playing through the game. Also, if you save a lot of levels your party will be far behind you in experience, it's a glitch.

Having many save games is not a problem: it is a good thing especially if you want to try *or make* mods later on (everyone is invited to try) but 36 saves only on Taris that is quite a lot. I have about 60-65 saves for the entire game. edit: forgot this was the xbox forum...anyways, even if you don't play with mods, it is always fun to have many saved games so you can replay some parts of the game only

You will *know* when you become a Jedi: it is quite obvious but I don't see the point in holding up levels, especially since you are playing as a Soldier: you get more feats without holding levels. The first time I played through the game I was a level 8 scout and level 12 Jedi guardian at the end. The game was not meant to hold levels - it was designed to become a Jedi at level 7 or 8 so that you can get the main characteristics of your initial classes too.

Of course, if you really want to hold levels, then do it...

I use to save levels because you feel a bit weak compared to the other jedi in your party when they have a lot more fp and powers than you. You're supposed to be the most powerful living being in the galaxy by the end of the game, it's more fun if you actually are just that.

I think it's less important to save levels if you're a soldier and tend to be a guardian however, because guardians focus more on physical combat anyway. I once made a soldier lv8/guardian lv12 that had 340 hp at level 20, I wiped the floor with Malak:joy:

I had 934 saves (that is the exact number) my first time through, cause I never overwroye my saves and saved after EVERY, single battle, before and after opening every single door, before and after every single conversatin with every single npc (even the shop keepers and all the npc civilians that do nothing but consume pixelized air), and before and after every single level up..... :eyeraise:I am not kidding..... :disaprove
