Leper Messiah Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 ive unistalled something i shouldnt have..... i recently (and with some satisfaction, i might add) terminated my contract with AOL and yesterday got around to purging my system of the damnable software, but the sodding thing has taken something with it because every time my comp starts now windows detects new hardware (wont tell me what though, just says unknown device) and sometimes halts at that stage of windows load up, i have no doubt that AOL and Windows ME teamed up once more to screw me over one last time

The_One Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Well, if you seem so sure this was as a result of removing the AOL software from your system, you need to ascertain what hardware AOL was using. You'll first want to investigate network adapters, and modems. Or if you are convinced your system is running fine without the mystery device, just right click on it in Device Manager and disable it - that'll stop Windows detecting it every time you boot...
