guybroom Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 I was watching TPM and AOTC and i realised that it reaks of dramatic irony. One of these bits is at the end of TPM Mace Windu says "But which was destroyed the master or the apprentice?" and then the shot shows Palpatine. Another is in AOTC when Anikin and padame are talking about how the republic works and he says "they should all sit down and discuss what is in the best intrest of the people and then do it... someone should make them agree... someone powerful" AOTC - Obi-wan says "Why do I get the feeling your going to be the death of me?" I know there are more, but I can't remember them. What are your faverout ironic scenes?
coupes. Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 At the end of TPM Palpatine tells Anakin he'll keep a close eye on his career... BTW, this isn't irony
Hannibal Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Originally posted by coupes. BTW, this isn't irony Foreshadowing?
coupes. Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 That's exaclty the word I was looking for... thanks
Wraith 8 Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 i like the bit with: why do i have the feeling you will be the death of me
Kurgan Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Threepio says something like "you'll never get me up there" (about space travel). Anakin says "I will be the most powerful Jedi ever!" well he does basically end up being the only Jedi at a certain point, CAUSE HE KILLED THEM ALL! One of the best has to be: Palpatine: I will not let this Republic, which has stood for a thousand years, be split in two! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Sabretooth Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Originally posted by guybroom AOTC - Obi-wan says "Why do I get the feeling your going to be the death of me?" That one, anytime.
Shok_Tinoktin Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 I'm gonna have to agree with wraith and saber on this one.
Evil Dark Jedi Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Originally posted by Shok_Tinoktin I'm gonna have to agree with wraith and saber on this one. And I agree with you Wraith and Sabre. That line is the classic. "Why do I get the feeling your going to be the death of me?"- Obi-Wan. That line is a classic.
guybroom Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Ironic , forshaddowing, what's the difference? (That was retorical!) Also is the bit where anikan says "i want to be the first one to see them all" about the star systems in the galaxy ironic/forshaddowing?

I doubt it. It's possible, but I doubt it. More likely it is just to show us a little more of his character, that he is excited to go adventure and see the galaxy.
Darkside_tanro Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 I like like the " why do i get the feeling you'll be the death of me."
guybroom Posted November 18, 2004 Author Posted November 18, 2004 I've found another. "He seems to be carrying a message from an Obi-Wan Kenobi, does this name mean anything to you?" Now where have I heard that before?
