Derc
Hey, over at GameFAQs, the daily poll is "Which game company do you hate the most?" Of course I voted for EA. And not surprisingly, others feel the same way. -Update- Might as well link to the results.
Break Ya Neck
Originally posted by TemporaryTomato http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/TemporaryTomato/vote.gif I'm gonna bomb the EA headquarters. jedi3112
Leave some of them alive for me, I need to learn how to use the Force Lightning and Force Choke, and I really could use somebody to test them on. Maybe we should lock them all up in a small room and harvest them later on. All for the greater good of knowing the Force.
Hannibal
To add on to the hatred of EA they also bough 20% of Ubi Soft. Which the President of Ubi Soft calls an attempt at hostile takeover. To reiterate my point: EA = Microsoft Now just like people type 'Micro$oft', now you can type EA$port$. Drazin
I cancelled my SubscriptionS to Shadowbane as soon as that 20% buyout was released. I try to boycott anything made by EA. They are a Zerg of greedy no gooders and I will do my best to not support them. Even if it means not buying Splintercell 3 Sniff Although... if one of you were to buy Splintercell3 for me... then I wouldnt be directly giving EA any money.... Hmm... Mav
Hopefully, their deal with ESPN will at least make the presentation side of Madden look better, although I agree with the fact and it is a fact that competition brings out the best in people, groups, teams, companies, whatever, I have to admit I enjoy playing Madden so I wont be able to boycott EA, but I am very displeased that they chose to deal with their competition by eliminating them, all I know is that if they dont put out a vastly improved game I am going to be pissed off, but I'll still buy the game... forgive me, although I do like MVP Baseball and it's the best baseball game I've played
HEISLEGEND
haha, yknow whats funny? most "gamers" (atleast console gamers) dont even think of these things. they only care about the game thats it. they wont care if only one company is making the games they are too stupid to realize that. o well, i havent bought a signle ea game since generals (as someone pointed out earlier) and after i read the article on how EA treats it employees i decided to not buy anything EA related. *cough*pirate time*cough* o well. jedi3112
EA also reminds me of Czerka. Whenever I hear somebody talk about EA I always think of those Czerka guys in their uniforms and their mercenaries. I am currently thinking of making an Armada2 mod where EA, Micro$oft and Czerka plan to take over the galaxy. Off course they will be stopped by all the good guys on LucasForums with their Stardestroyers and MC cruisers.
Hannibal
Originally posted by HEISLEGEND ...they are too stupid to realize that. That's a stereotype, and a ridiculous one at that. A lot of console gamers are also PC gamers. Also a lot of PC gamers pick their games the same way console gamers do. Walmart is a big seller of PC games. I don't know if you remember this but a few years bag a top selling PC game was a hunting game. Ok you think console gamers are stupid. Do you like sports games? There are hardcore gamers that think people that like sports games are stupid. You're both allowed your opinions. In my opinion your both wrong. I think you are right that there's a big section of gamers (console and PC) that don't think about the company who make the games. They just buy games they want and that's it. If you think about it it's a lot simpler that way. No drama. No, "I wish XXX company made this game instead of YYY company, it would have been so much better." stingerhs
this is how i see it: if you're snubbing the competition through exclusive contract rights and buying portions of other companies to have a hand in their operations, then thats called monopolizing. do you honestly think that EA is going to help Ubisoft? or do you still believe that EA $port$ is going to churn out better games whenever they have almost no competition? or better yet, what's going to happen whenever the only major publisher is EA? simple: higher prices, and i'm not talking about inflation adjustments. EA can claim that they're helping gamers all they want to, but i honestly can't see any good coming out of all the corporate bullying they've been doing recently. stingerhs
i really hate resurrecting old threads as much as anyone, but this is quite relevent. anyway, i found a gamespot article that gives EA's point of view on the issue. check it out: the link: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/03/15/news_6120509.html edit: and for the curious, you will note that the article's date is today, which means it took EA well over a month to respond to the criticism its been recieving over the issue. Too bad they let Sitrin open his mouth and actually "talk"...if that's what you want to call it.. Yet Sitrin also believes that just because EA has eliminated the competition doesn't mean it will rest on its laurels. "I think for those people that think that this is the end of innovation because it gets rid of competition, I think they just have too narrow of a definition of what competition is. The reality is, competition for Madden…is much broader than that. For us, competition is Halo 2, Grand Theft Auto, or any of those games," Sitrin said. Pleeeaaase... EA has done nothing BUT rest on its ass, even when it did have competition! And to even mention other games in a completley different genre as 'competition' is just another way of trying to sidetrack the public into looking away from the bigger picture here. It's not competition if I have no interest in those games. What if all I played was Sports games?.. no competition there Sitrin... at least none with the backing they've seemed to 'conveniently' stuff in their backpocket... as Hannibal states "Death to EA!" montnoir
I don't play sports games, I don't watch sports, i don't talk about sports, I don't care about sports. I do play tennis and golf in the summer and ski in the winter. I am not a "competitionist", just a player - me. Sorry, after an hour of reading this thread... I just had to get that of my chest. Oh... Monopoly (IRL) = bad, not good, evil! Monopoly (the board game) = somewhat fun.

EA makes more than just sports games. Eventually, if they keep expanding they way the currently are, EA's suckiness will effect games that you like.
