High paying Oregon Jobs Outsourced to North Dakota

Well, not really high paying. And I technically no jobs have been cut yet. I've just never heard of something so silly sounding.

You can still order up a Big Mac and fries at the only drive-through McDonald's in this Eastern Oregon farming town, but you'll have to go by way of North Dakota.

That disembodied voice directing you to the next window is coming to you live from 1,300 miles away in Grand Forks.

Ya I'm sure this will make things much more efficient

I don't trust them to get the drive through order correctly when the person taking the order is in the restaurant.

IMO these call centers do not work. I know Pizza huts in my area all use call centers and half the time the order is gimped in some manner, Although they are good about giving the customer credit towards another order if you complain ;)

well, since i do occasionally run a drive-thru at work (although not at mcdonalds), i think this could be a pretty decent idea. i don't know how they do it at mcdonalds, but if you're running drive-thru at my place, then that means you take the order, dress any sandwiches they ordered, put down your own fries (and whatever else is getting fried), cash out the customer, and finally give the customer their order. :nut:

i've gotten pretty good at it, considering we have to do so much at one time (my current average is 198 seconds, or 3 min & 18 seconds per car). this kind of idea would make it easier on whoever runs drive thru up where i work because it eliminates the hassle of trying to take orders while your trying to fix someone else's food. i also like the idea of taking the picture of the car so that you know for sure that you can match up the person's order with the car, in case someone drives off.

thats why i say don't laugh at an idea if your not entirely sure about the situation to begin with. :)

I thought it sounded like a good idea too. Because they usually screw up your order because they are working on it while taking another order. This will free them up. I don't know why they can't just have one person in the McDonalds handling it instead of a guy a couple hundred miles away.

Because the guy a couple hundred miles away can be payed a few dollars an hour cheaper. They might also have one person responsible for multiple McDonalds, so it would not makes sense to have a person in the actual place. Basically they are trying to cut costs.

North Dakota is no India.

So basicly they are supporting a US sweatshop in ND?

5.15 min wage in ND 7.25 in Oregon(McDs workers averaging 8.45).

I guess that's the benefit of cost of living throughout in the country.

Sidenote: Wow! did you know that 7 US states don't have a minimum wage law?

Probably,... then someone will try to sue McDonalds over it

"Some Hacker Super-Sized my order, I gained weight, burnt myself & it's all McDonald's fault! I want $50 million!" hehehe ;)
