I have saved the relavant unmodded files from 1.0 and compared them to the patched files. Except for the handmaiden.dlg the only one that seems different is 904kreia. The problem is I can't get extracted correctly with Kotor Tool. According to the readme they only fixed a voice/text mismatch, so the old one should still work fine.

Jennaida, jedigoku, I have uploaded a Handmaiden dialog file until the mod is updated. It also fixes the broken dialog branch. The same file works with and without the mod.

(Edit: stoffe has uploaded an updated version of the Handmaiden mod at PCGameMods that fixes the problem with patch 1.0b:

Since the problems with the escaped criminals and fuel quest haven't been fully taken care of in the patch either, I have included a workaround for those as well, in case anyone is interested.

Thanks a lot for looking into this, saves me a lot of extra trouble. :)

What's wrong with 904kreia.dlg, isn't KotorTool compatible with the patched game? Could be a bit hard to fix any problems if we can't extract the file. Best to check it out when possible, as I don't know if a readme file can be trusted to list every little thing that has changed. :)

If you do manage to extract 904kreia.dlg somehow and figure out if there's any problems with it before LucasArts release the UK version patch, please feel free to upload a 1.0b compatible version of the Handmaiden mod to pcgamemods.com so people won't download the old one and run into problems needlessly.

Don't know what the problem is with 904Kreia. If I extract it and put it in the override without modifying it in any way then the conversation doesn't start. The camera spins around, but that's it. With the file in the mod or none in the override, that conversation works normally. I haven't had such difficultiess with any other file since the patch.

Sorry for bringing this topic back up...

But I thought Stoffe -MKB- would want to know that I have run into a very "interesting" glitch:

I have played through the entire game with this mod as a female, LS, and it worked fine.

I am replaying the game again, (LS, female)...

But this time, when I return to Khoonda, just for the heck of it, I asked the Disciple if he wanted to join me... And he did.

He replaced Brianna (Handmaiden)... Yet she is STILL on the Ebon Hawk whenever I return

This got me thinking...

Is there a way to replace HK-47 with either Disciple (for LS) or Mira (for DS players who want her)?

I don't know what this would do to the plot cut-scene wise (the cut-scenes on board the Hawk), but if it could be done I think this would be really cool and give even more replay to this game as players really would have their choice of who(m) they want to add to their party.

I left that conversation option in on purpose as an option for you to change your mind. Though admittedly I haven't tested if it has any consequences beyond about half an hour's play or so afterwards, since the main focus of the modification was allowing you to pick Handmaiden or Disciple after leaving the Academy.

I haven't really looked into this much so keep that in mind when reading this, but I believe it would be a bit troublesome to have both Disciple and Handmaiden in the party at the same time. The game automatically removes the Handmaiden's portrait button from the party selection screen when the Disciple joins, since their buttons occupy the same space. Even if you move the disciple's button, the handmaiden's button will still vanish when he joins. I suspect this hiding of interface elements is hardcoded in the game.

Thus, while both would technically be in the party, you'd only be able to bring the Disciple out with you since you can't select the Handmaiden.

The problem with using someone elses party table slot, like HK47s, is that it would mess up creature-specific interjections and the cutscenes on the Ebon Hawk, since those check if the NPC is present by checking if their party table slot is populated rather than check what actual creature occupies that slot. Thus the game would try to trigger HK47s cutscenes even if he isn't present, and the Disciples (far more numerous) cutscenes would never fire.

Wow!! 6 Page with 40 post/page...

I have been following this topic closely.

I have a request:

Could someone create a report of all that has worked here?

--> Objective: Handmaiden for a Female PC

-> A list/link of files that must be downloaded (Mods, if any)

-> Any editing tools required...

-> Game version to be used...

-> More...

I'm sorry to bumb this old thread, but i thought i'll share my troubles with this mod (well actualy not really this mod problem).

I have installed again Kotor II, updated it, then installed following mods:

High Level Force 2.0, UMS Sabers, Hardcore Mod, tn-summerdress, FullyItemCreationv1.0, Hoth Dark and Hoth Light Robes, Maidenlook, Handmaiden reskin, Lightsabers 2.0., rzf_workbench_tweak, Mirra's Swoop Bike Leather and last but not least handmaiden for females 1.1.

Everything went smoothly (well i read Readme AFTER i failed to choose right answer at Academy :) ), I finished Telos, Nar Shadaa then went to dantuine. There my nightmare began - as soon as I met Disciple (I was allready lvl 18, prestige and full light, Handmaiden started Guardian) he kept to join me. There was no other choice but to get him into party and thus override Handmaiden. Handmaiden of course stayed on ship, i could talk to her, but coudln't get her to party.

After about 3.5 hour of checking dialogs using KOtor tool, trying to learn how it works etc i have found, that problem most likely was with UMS lightsabers. There were some disciple scripts and evidently they have overrided changes in HfF (ugly short, isn't it?) mod. Unfortunately it is 6am here, so i have no strengh neither will to do closer tests to find which one exactly did it. I just deleted everything from override directory that had disciple (or disc) in name, copied HfF again and voila! He FINALY returned to Khoonda.

I hope there will not be more troubles. I don't know if this helps you in any way, just thought i will post it here in case someone will encounter same problem.

May be long sleep (sorry, force) with you.

Since this mod was made before the USM was released, and since USM modified some of the same DLG (Conversation) files as this mod does, they aren't fully compatible "out of the box". The one you reported above is the most apparent incompatibility, I don't remember if there are others as well. In general, installing a mod that overwrites files already put in override by another mod tends to cause incompatibility problems.

All the changes made to DLG files by this mod are documented in the readme file though, so if you know a bit about modding it shouldn't be too hard to make them compatible by editing the USM files and applying the changes from the Handmaiden mod to it. Use the DLG Editor, not KotorTool when editing K2:TSL DLG files, or there will be loads of trouble.

(I should probably make a version that modifies the files if they already exists in override to make it more compatible with mods like USM. But I don't know when/if that will happen... )

The edits explained in this thread should make USM and the Handmaiden mod compatible:

Hey all, sorry for the thread necromancy, but I've just started playing TSL again. After running through once with a female LS Consular/Watchman Skills/Single Blaster Pistol Jedi, I thought I'd grab the Handmaiden Hack and use it for my next run-through with a Female Light-to-Dark Sentinel/Sith Lord to get the maximum of Female Sith Awesomeness crowded aboard the Ebon Hawk.

I was disappointed, but not terribly surprised when the 1.2b version of the Handmaiden Hack didn't actually work on TSL 2.10 English (which appears to be the latest version of the game. I'm used to patching games up all the way to make sure they work with mods, rather than holding them at an original or some intermediate version.)

Thanks to stoffe for the fix to the Telos Academy entry conversation. Surrendering without much bluster is generally more in-character for my visions of the Exile, and the loss of that option was going to mean going back to an earlier version or modding it myself otherwise.

The problem comes after I subtly invite Handmaiden to join my party. Upon leaving Telos, I learn that Handmaiden has left to follow the Exile, but she never actually joins up. I'm wondering if there's a quick fix for this, or if I should reinstall TSL and play with the unpatched version to get the Handmaiden Hack to work.

As mentioned above, my game version is 2.10 English according to the auto-updater. I'm using a relatively lightweight collection of mods, a hand-hacked partial fix (from waay back) for the telos fuel quest (touches only vogga.dlg) and an underwear/body/head mod for female Exiles being the only others.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Ok... you are posting in the wrong thread, I think... but I also think I can help you with your issue.

You need to right click on your swkotor2 folder, the main one, not a subfolder... and then choose properties, and uncheck "Read Only".

Also, make sure you are installing the mod as a user with administrator rights on your PC.

For the record, there is a thread for TSLRC. It is probably the first one in the Taris Upper City Emporium.

I'm using the mod, it's great thanks for all the hard work!

I noticed one problem/issue maybe someone can help fix. Once I board the EB the scene I get is of the two sisters reporting to Atris, Handmaiden is no longer among them. If your playing the male, you get a scene of Atris asking Handmaiden to join you. It's referenced with Handmaiden speaks to the PC the first time on the ship. She says "Atris asked me to join you".

I'm pretty sure it's installed correctly, any idea why the movie of Atris asking Handmaiden to company the PC isn't playing or was this intended?

The reason it stands out so much is the mood/flavor of the two movies is different, when Atris asks Handmaiden she is doing so to watch over the PC for signs of the Dark side or contacting the Sith. Yet when she tells the two sisters (the movie I am getting now), she is blaming Handmaiden as if she has betrayed Atris and the sisters.

Thanks for any help or tips.

Thanks Kael'thas Solo, great points. Actually more the reason BOTH movies should play. Imo, it would make the game feel solid and stronger.

Anyone know how to get both movies to play, when exiting the Secret Academy the first time with Handmaiden?

Thanks for any tips. :)

I seemed to have found a solution to this problem and it seems it will work with any mods, under two minor conditions, at least until there is a Compatibility patch for this and Restoration Content. ;)

As long as you don't mind using KotOR Save Editor four times during the course of your game and you don't mind seeing a Male for the first cutscene or two. Specifically during the tutorial while your controlling T3 as you lay in the Med Bay injured and the initial Kolto tank scene. I was able to Quicksave fast enough, just before the Kolto scene. Then change the skin to Female with KSE and reload to see a female in the tank, but not everyone would want to worry about this scene.

Here's what you need to do, first start your game as the male version of your class (not sure the same class is necessary, was a safety precaution on my part). Then once you get control of your PC, save and load KSE. What you want to do is edit the Appearance Skin to Female of your choice. Even though TSL doesn't use a PC Soundset still set mine to Common Female, which gave me a few Female Battle Cries. Then set your Global Boolean Gender (already uninstalled I can't check it atm) to Female. Then there is a setting (ugg, forgot the name) that applies Gender Checks Universally, then load your Savegame and you should be female. Both Boolean settings are at the top of the list once you click to open the Boolean list.

Any custom Female skins work just remember to choose the correct skin in KSE or the correct Default Female PC your skin installed to, e.g. P_FEM_C_SML_01.

The three other times you need to use KSE is to change the Gender back to Male and the two Global Boolean settings Back to the Male for one small level each. You will NEVER need to change the skin, back to Male.

First SAVE your game while you are still OUTSIDE on the Plateau before you enter the Secret Academy, Secondly while OUTSIDE the Jedi Ruins before meeting Disciple and Thirdly again at Dantooine before you enter the Ruins to Meet the Masters.

There are some bonuses to using this method, for one thing you get all the movies to play correctly. E.g. you see Atris telling Handmaiden to go, then telling the Sisters she doesn't know why Handmaiden left and several more instances.

Good luck.

Hey, kinda hoping someone can here can help me with a problem I've been having with the mod. Since his thread is still receiving the occasional post despite the age of the game, I figured I'd give it a try.

This is my first time playing the game, using a female LS exile, with this mod (1.2) and 90sk's ultimate robes mods. I had a couple others installed (handmaiden_hood_off and remote_influence), but I've removed them.

I've had the problem a while where every time I switched planets the game would either crash or exit to a non-responsive main menu. To get around this I found I could save before using the navcomp, rename my Override folder, travel to my destination, save and rename the folder back.

However, I'm now stuck trying to leave Dantooine after the council to return to Telos. I've tried the following:

-Leaving the Override folder alone, everything plays through until the last cinematic of flying past Citadel station, then crashes out to non-responsive main menu.

-Renaming the Override folder as I had been doing crashes the game as Atton won't load when I return to the Ebon Hawk, I assume the Mandalorian tunic he's wearing is from the robe mod.

-Running it with only the robe mod crashes when the cutscene with Visas should play.

-I've tried doing all the above while also following the advice of the previous post, using KSE to modify my gender and global boolean gender settings. Similar results.

So basically I'm stuck the majority of the way through the game with no way to progress that I've found. :(

I haven't tried re-installing yet, as I doubt it would help in this case, though I'll probably give it a shot before giving up on yet another buggy-as-can-be Obsidian game (it's a rare game that manages to crash a PC all the way to the BIOS in 1 second).

So I decided to try here first, any help would be greatly appreciated.

>>EDIT:

Went ahead and tried a fresh reinstall and patch to 1.0b. KSE'd my gender settings on a save I made before flying off to Dantooine, installed the Robes pack, went through the council stuff, again crashed to main menu at same place. I made a save before leaving the enclave.

Installed HandmaidenforFemales, decided to check the save I had just made. Oddly, the player gender setting had been changed back to female, though the gender boolean was still set to 1. Changed gender back to male, loaded up, crashed to main menu again at same spot.

Cleared override, reinstalled Robes mod, loaded the Dantooine save, same results.

So now I'm really at a loss as to what to do, and I find it very odd that one of the gender values was reset, but not the other.

Again, any insight would be greatly appreciated! Guess I'll start a male DS exile with the restored content mod while I wait. Need to get my Force Lightning going.

Hey, old thread I know but hope someone still reads this. I'm trying to play KOTOR2 "canonically" (light side female). Biggest issue I've been having is that BOTH Handmaiden and Disciple are supposed to join the exile. I read the thread and someone talked about a "glitch" where you can still invite Dicsiple to join you and Brianna just stays on the ship, which is perfect for me. I also read that this was purposefully left in. I just want to confirm that this option was still in the latest version of the mod. And is this mod the "handmaiden-for-female-pc" mod on filefront? Because pcgamemods is dead. Thanks.
