TheProphet
Well anyways, like I said we have finished the demo and production is skyrocketing, we are already started on korderon and that is the longest module, once it is over we are cruisin, kind of. Here is a screenshot of Korderon and Charles: http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/5706/charles1nh.jpg WTF Gandalf?!?!?
Jeff
Very cool Gsccc. I just finished the demo and it was awesome. I can't wait for the finished product!!!
Aiden Star
Guys.....compared to TSL how long will the game last? Hours wise?
TheProphet
People have asked me this question before, the mod has to be significantly less in gameplay time than TSL or the download could be near half a gigabite or more. To keep size down we must also size down the mod gameplay time. But dont fret(asuming you like the mod and you are) because there will be a sequal coming out after we finish, quite some time after we finish. As far as how many hours this will be, no one can say at this point, I will have to have completed the mod to be that specific. -GSCCC
Aiden Star
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While it is very very unpolished (typical for a Beta for even the best companies) its eons better than any user created mod ive ever seen. THIS IS WHY I WASNT IMPRESSED WITH A GIZKA VIDEO (in joke) THIS IS A GREAT PIECE OF WORK. THIS IS OUTSTANDING. I had a fear that there would never be another KOTOR.... WHO CARES!!!!! We have great people who make great games out of the love of the game and the genre. I am nearly moved to tears to see the effort you guys put in. Sure the videos are rough, sure there are spelling mistakes, but geez......this is wonderful. I have been craving for a new game after finishing both Star Wars KOTORS in a matter of 2 weeks. Once again my biggest thanks for working on a great game! Cant wait to see the finished product! In addition to this I am a games BETA tester for Sports Interactive (Football Manager 2005) I can give you guys valid reports on bugs I notice if you like. I have noticed a few little things in first moments of gaming like speach out of sink with lips (completely off at times where voice speaks yet no movement in animation) AI not aggressive enough.....(though that was in TSL too) Also it seems the republic soldiers are toooooooo alike Mandalorians....they seem very harsh, especially verbally to one another. Though its a nice change from Carth Onasi Style party members. The text scroll was very uneven. Too many paragraphs and spaces between words, seemed that all words were pointing to the left..... Another pointer...would be to "slow down" Try not to rush moments between characters speaking, shifts between movie sequences. A pause of a second or so will let it seem more polished. I like the voice acting thus far! Hey so far im more impressed with this than with TSL when I first started it. HEHEH Keep up the good work! TheProphet
Hey there glad you enjoyed it that much heh, A few of the bugs you mentioned we are trying to work out, and a few of them we sadly cannot. For example, the lip syncing is taken from other files big medium and small, we cannot edit modules so making the lips move perfectly with the voices is impossible. We feel it is better than bobbing heads though . And the movies will unfortunetally always be rough, they have to be rendered at 1600 x 1200 to even play at the quality you saw them, and we have our EXCELLENT guy Jean Manuer working on a new star wars scroller to fix all that junk. As for the rapid transitions, we can fix that, we just need to add more dead silence or air time before and after voice overs so that say if a transition would happen after a line was spoken, it wouldnt happen immedietly, ai is also an unfixable thing, we can only change this by making them harder to hit. And with the harshness of Adon, well I guess i tried to reflect the marines a little too much, but my friend said i needed to add a smartallek remark for a reply and i think that no one in any millitary would have any patience for a soldier who doesnt show respect . And yes, we finally have a WOMAN voice actress, she is great and she is able to model too, we deffinetly have a skilled group of people here who can make this mod what it can be. Glad you liked it! Just made my day! -GSCCC
Aiden Star
Hey you made my day too! I love the Kotor series and knowing that even if no games company is willing to take on another project - people will always create other story lines using a game and its ability to be re moulded into something else! Yoko
Okay.... I just played this hunk o Junk and guess what.... . . . . . . . I LOVED IT!!!!! This mod is just excellent!! Its incomparable! This was just a demo and I am RAVING about it! I used to work with Gsccc a while back on his old mod with him, and I have to admit I thought he was a bleh modder but now there seems to have come a metamorphosis and it is SOOO for the better. Great voice acting too! sure there were some errors here and there and the movies were pretty poor in quality but the fact that there were any movies at all was just amazing! HOW DID YOU GUYS DO THIS?!?!?!? If only the module format and model format were cracked I would DIE to see how AWESOME this mod would be if it could customize everything. I am SO anxious to see what comes next! Please make another demo of what happens to Coruscant I WANT TO KNOW! gosh the intro scene GAVE ME CHILLS. OH AND BTW THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO FIX THE ROMANCE PROBLEM IN KOTOR I AND II, THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO ROMANCE FOR THE WOMEN, AND WE NEED IT!! PLEASE Gsccc! EXCELLENT WORK GUYS KEEP IT UP!!! P.S., Got any room for little ol' me?

Ztalker
I've played the demo, and it rocked! The characters where realy good. Including veteran-speech. I've also read the forum, and realised some strange story-line gaps. First of all: The Jedi master, Charles, has trained Anakin, you say. Considering Obi-Wan was a very young trainer, Charles must have been 30-40 years old in Episode 1, that makes him 80 during episode 6. (15 years of the new trilogy+gap of 20 years between 3 and 4,+10 years of the old trilogy makes 45) He's around 80 years old during episode 6, and 180 in your mod. That really bothers me, because you have a great alternative. 21 years after episode 6, a child is born. The son of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade. He would be 79 in your mod. A normal age, i would say. And you get a connection to the old films this way. Also, Leia and Han have children. 5 years after ep.6 their children are born: Jacen and Jaina Solo. Novels confirm they ARE being trained by their uncle Luke. Also, The Millenium Falcon becomes an diplomatic vessel for the republic, and won't be destoryed. Is there any way to reskin the outside of the Ebon Hawk (D-Wing, I know)? The inside is practicly the same. That way, you can add some links to the movies that support your story of '100 years after' , and you can make a connection to the family Solo (or maybe Wookies?). I'm sorry of being such a pain in the ass, but i really liked your demo, and i can't wait to play it. P.S: Al the info above can be confirmed by checking the character list on: http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/
TheProphet
I can see where you might be concerned here. Let me clear a few things up for you. Charles is MUCH older than 180, he is this old due to his amazing power in the force. If you look at the starwars movies you will see that the force only alowed people to live untill they had completed their purpose, Obi-wan, Darth Vader, Qui-Gon, Duku. The same is for charles, only his time comes later than most, after he helps you. Let me completely fill you in on the background of Charles start to finish, this will be long so bear with me. Charles started out a youngling, had amazing force abilities and adapted to techniques as well as the arts of the saber extremely fast. This disturbed many on the Jedi Council as they were not sure as what to do if he were to get out of hand. Well he progressed well, showed no real signs of turning, though countless times as a child he was tempted, it was not only known to the Council that Charles was thriving with force power. As he progressed through his mid teens, he was paired up in a training program with Obi-Wan Kenobi, this is where their friendship began to take off. Obi-Wan and Charles were almost unbeatable as a team, and through this teamwork became great friends, they were inseparable as teenagers. As they years grew on they were each given a master. Qui-Gon Jin was Obi Wan's master and Muro Tann, a friend of Qui-Gon was master to Charles. They both did very well until Charles' master was defeated by a young padawan named Darth Gannis on a planet called Numeria. The king of this land was just as evil as the emperor. He was an evil dictator and led his people through much suffering. Charles was able to defeat Darth Gannis but not kill him. Darth Gannis fled to his master, Darth Sidious. The people of Numeria were so grateful to Charles' they offered him a position to be king. He accepted and from then on was their leader. A few years later Qui-Gon died, leaving both of them masterless. The council granted that since Charles had displayed a large amount of responsibility that he would be now promoted to Jedi Master as well as be on the Jedi Council. The same went for Obi-Wan, and he now had a padawna, Anakin. Charles had been secretly meeting with a woman Jedi for quite some time. It was a short while after he had become King that he had officially married her. The Jedi's name was Anna Quin, now Anna Denorin. The council did not like this, but Yoda thought differently, he noticed a strange bond between the two. Somehow, Anna gave Charles power, when they were together it thrived. Him being with her increased his abilities. Yoda suggested that since this was a strange case, to let the wed couple be. The council wanted Charles to teach his saber skill to all the Jedi Padawans at some point in time, so Charles developed the 10 Level Saber Program, where he would train Jedi until they got to the 10th level and could be as good as he was. His first Student was Anakin. Anakin was young and a bit sure of himself. Charles gave him his first lesson and in that first lesson, straightened him out a bit. Anakin was not fond of this and was bitter with Charles at first. But as the years grew on Charles and Anakin became on better terms and began talking after each training session. Meanwhile, council meetings kept going and the friendship of Obi-Wan and Charles was as good as ever. Obi-Wan even bought a wedding gift for Anna, who was afraid that Obi-Wan would have bad feelings toward her given the current situation. Obiwan and Charles always sat next to each other during council meetings. This time the council thought it necessary to keep a good look at the Chancellor. They picked Charles to do this. Charles was not at all happy about it because he despised the Chancellor; they never got along very well. At the end of the council meeting, Charles pulled over Mace Windu (another one of his good friends, though not nearly as good as Obi-Wan) and asked him if there was some way to get someone else on the task. Mace told him to hold out for just a while longer until they could find a replacement. Anakin and Charles had been getting closer and closer, Charles would make an effort not to sound judgmental in any way as to be on better terms with the young boy. Obi-Wan was not so sure of this and decided to talk to Charles in his room after Anna had left to go shopping. Obi wan stressed that it was not Charles' job to be Anakin's friend, just to teach him. Charles stressed that he needed someone who would be less judgmental in his life to help him with his personal problems. Obi-Wan took this as an insult and from then on they were not happy at all with each other. Durring the next Council meeting they sat next to each other as always but Obi-wan payed no attention nor even looked in charles direction. Charles figured he just needed some time. The council had picked their replacement, and it was Anakin. Not much can be said about what happened in those brief moments between when Anakin was given the assignment and when all things went wrong. One thing is for sure, Obi-Wan's and Charles' relationship only got worse. Before Obi-Wan left to go fight Grievous, Charles stopped him and wished him good luck. Obi-Wan nodded and left. After a while Charles had a terrible premonition, and It brought light to his understanding of things. He went to go confront the Chancellor, when he did he found out how Mace Windu had died and began to spar with the Chancellor. It didn't last long as the Palpatine revealed yet another thing to him. Darth Gannis walked into the room and then Palpatine revealed his plan to get Charles out of the picture. Darth Gannis would go and attack Charles' planet Numeria, slaughtering everyone, as well as killing his wife. Then Gannis trapped Charles in a force field which he got out of by using his force ability. He ran to his room where he found his wife dead with her saber in her hands, at least she put up a fight. This tore him to pieces, he immediately ran to his ship but was stopped by Obi-Wan and Yoda. He told them what had happened and what he must do, to this Yoda understood. Obi-Wan pulled him over and began to tell him why it was his fault anakin had turned to the darkside. He said that he had been too easy on him and that he had MADE the council pick someone else to be near the Chancellor. To this Charles stated that had Obi wan been less judgmental he would have been able to save Anakin and Anakin would not be where he was. They both had Jobs to do, Obi wan had to go confront Anakin, and Charles had to go save his people. Charles left and got to his planet before the attack had started. He immediately ordered an evacuation and got all his people out. He did however have to do quite a bit of fighting to do it. He knew he would get no help from the republic as there was no republic any more. He was able to defeat Gannis, though he noticed in himself much less force power, due to the loss of his wife. Charles fled to a planet he called Korderon, and kept his people there, he knew that if the empire EVER knew where he was what would happen to his people. Chalres remained a recluse on his planet ever since, until you arrive. The grudge between obi-wan and charles was always fierce and stays that way until obi wan's end. You meet up with obi-wan's Ghost on your journey. And you and Charles find a republic record that maps everything out during the Prequel movies, only one thing is missing, Charles. He is completely stripped out of the entire history, there is no record of him even existing. Charles thinks that this is due to the fact that everyone thought he had abandoned the republic, but you later find otherwise. You can either (lightside) get the truth from Obi-Wan and tell him that Charles still values their friendship, and put the two spirits to rest, or (darkside) lie to obi wan and tell him why he was at fault for Anakin's fall, and forever keep them in agony even in death. Well, thats about it. -GSCCC
Ztalker
Okay...that's so very cool! It fits exactly in the movies too....i remember Anakin saying in ep 3: "I am twice as strong now." Also, you are right about the long-life story. Darth Vader died when he became good again, Obi-Wan died to guide Luke, and QUi-Gon died to make Obi-Wan a Jedi-Knight, (you become a knight after a big-battle, preferably with a Sith) thus giving him the responsability over Anakin. Your right in that point. The backstoy about Charles is great too. Charles fits great in the story. There's only 1 'but.' You can't stay a Force-ghost forever. 5 Years after episode 6, just for the Trawn crisis, Obi-Wan appears to Luke in a dream, due the fact he is losing power. He comes to Luke and says he will meet up in the afterlife with Luke. Then Luke thinks, while Obi-Wan is disappearing, "I am the last jedi now...." Then Obi-Wan answers: "No, Luke. The first of the new." This is his motivation to name his kid Ben, and re-create the Jedi Order. Al i want to say is, a force-ghost can't 'live' this long. Anakin was mainly dark-sided and coul only appear once. Same goes for the weakend Yoda. What is the purpose of Obi-Wan haunting the place that long? Again, sorry to be such a pain in the ass, but these ARE facts.
darkwarrior
People being very old in the star wars universe isn't all that unbelievable. I always thought the amount of planning needed for Sidious' plan would mean he was approaching 100 at least. He's just strong in the force so retains the abilities of youth. B.A.M
Hm, played the demo and thought it was very well done. I was under the impression that it wasn't going to be in anyway related to the original story though. That way you'd be able to do what ever you wanted to the story as it wouldn't be canon. The idea about Charles (odd name to use for a star wars character) perplexes me. A Jedi Master from the Ep 1 - 3 era could have survived the destruction of the Jedi and lived to a ridiculous age, but would not have the council thrown his ass out for a) Becoming a ruler of a planet and b) for marrying? Saying that he trained Anakin in the lightsaber arts is a nice touch, especially as you could write it into the storey that Charles could teach your PC lightsaber forms as you progress. Ztalker
Yes, that's true. But we are talking about the Force-spirits here. Thay have a limited live-span. Anakin and Yoda only 1 time! And it is proven fact Obi-Wan stops appearing as a ghost, it is said in Heir to the Empire, in the start of the book. You can google for it. The writer is Timothy Zahn. Ztalker
True. In the Shadow of the Empire books, Thrawn finds the cloning chambers of the Emperor, and they are being used later to recreate a Emperor-body. But one more thing. i searched around a bit, and found something interesting. In one of the Jedi Academy books Luke is haunted by a spirit on Yavin 4. Guess who it was? Exar Kun. More than 4000 years later he shows up! So i Obi-Wan can appear 100 years later. Exar Kun was believed to die too, and appears again. Maybe those special Ghost can appear for superstrong Force-sensitives, because no-one else could see thespirit of Exar Kun. Only Anakin Solo and Luke could. That explains why Obi-Wan can appear for Charles, since Charles is very strong in the force, maybe evens tronger than Luke, considering he had Jedi-training of the Old Jedi Academy. TheProphet
All the points you are making about the shadows of the empire books and the EU are all correct yes, but here is also something to consider. I dont know how much story credit you throw tsl or Kotor 1, I know I dont give it much, as to me it doesn't seem like george lucas would have agreed with some of the ideas. But on Korriban in Kotor one you got to see one of the ghost of one of the original sith, the first sith ever. That had to date longer than a few hundred years. Further more, you will find that the story doesnt fit in with the EU and the many books written after the 6 episodes of starwars. You will find it EXTREMELY hard to write within the boundries of what other people have already done aside from george lucas, and still add your own creative flare, or even your own characters. I didnt want this constraint or to have to conform to the writings of anyone other than george lucas in his movies. Bold I know, but it is after all just a mod. And major starwars fans might find it odd, but it still can be fun. I want this chapter to be almost as random as episode 4 was, the untold chapter in the star wars universe. Charles can fit in niclely in the 1-3 episodes. And when people ask why he wasnt in movies or books, simple. The peolple who recorded it took him out of everything to punish him for abandoning him. Or so HE thinks anyway. The only thing I REALLY want to try to stay away from doing is not matching up with the original movies, im not as conserned with books or other EU things, havent much read them anyway. -Gsccc
Ztalker
Your right. The mod was good in this form, and you should have the freedom to experiment with al sorts of things. And your right. B.A.M
Charles was wiped from history thats why it was thought Mace and Yoda were anakins swordsman teachers. It still seems a bit rough around the edges. What if Charles was kicked from the order, but because his technique with the lightsaber was so impressive, he was asked by Obi-wan to teach Anakin (and a few other select Jedi) as losses caused by the Clone Wars were alarmingly high. That way Charles can have a subtle guiding role, rather than an overt one that inteferes with the Ep 3 story line. Throughout the story line you could show that Charles also feels responsible for the fall of the Jedi order as his teachings reinforced Anakin's lust for power.
