DarthVaxis
I'm having trouble with bringing in new saber hilt models into TSL. I'm trying to use some of the hilts that people here designed for Kotor I, and at first, I was attempting to replace the default saber hilts, caused a crash when darth sion first appeared behind you in the Harbinger. So I took out all new models. Now I'm trying to bring the models back, but leaving them as qui_gon.uti, etc. Yet as soon as I try to load one up, it crashes the game again. I've thought about the fact that color crystals are handled differently in TSL so I edited the color crystal files (u_l_colo72.uti and the like, palatte 27, model variation 72), edited upcrystals.2da to add in the references... Still crashing. I'm gonna see if I can just add a new saber COLOR to the game with the default handle and see if that works.. PS. Blaster models work in game, provided the game has never loaded them before (you can't load a save game if you try to replace the default blaster pistol model for instance, because it's used so early in the game.).. having trouble understanding why lightsabers are more difficult. TheProphet
I could be wrong but I dont think we can get lightsabers into TSL at the moment, we can in kotor 1 but as of yet, i think we are still trying to figure that out in TSL.
Mav
nope this has been discussed repeatedly, like beating over a dead horse...lol, anyway no new models yet.
DarthVaxis
Yeah it'd seem that way, I tried just getting a new lightsaber color (aqua) into the game, it still crashes. I took the default hilt, mdlops'ed it to use the color, and it crashed, I hex edited the model to change all references of w_Dblsbr_009 and w_Dblsbr09 (I used that as a template) to w_Dblsbr_012/w_Dblsbr12 .. and well.. still crashed. Running out of options to try atm. Guess I'm stuck with the default saber hilts, and default saber colors.. unless maybe I can just up and replace the color texture. DarthVaxis
Ah.. I'm sorry, didn't know this had been discussed. You CAN replace the blaster models though, I dunno if you can do new ones, but I was able to replace blaster rifles with E-11 models (the default blaster rifle model is just so damn ugly.) Mav
if you want some unique sabers, just download this and check it out, you even get robes to boot!!!
T7nowhere
YA KotOR 1 model WILL NOT work in TSL. You know I almost closed this thread as soon as I read the title. Hex editing can be hazardous if your not carefull. First thing you need to make sure that your hex editing hilt models from TSL and not the ones from KotOR. Second make sure you do not add more characters than what is already there for the texture Reference. as long as your carefull it should work fine. Or you can just Download Maverick187 & RedHawke's mod.
DarthVaxis
Meh, no offense, but I can edit uti's myself as far as creating new properties goes. What I was interested in was getting new hilt shapes in like I can in KotoR. The aqua lightsaber I was trying to put in was a TSL model btw. I used w_dblsbr_009, w_lghtsbr_010, and w_shortsbr_009 as templates... do you think I could do it if I extracted the default hilt texture so that I could make the .mdl reference to that rather than w_lghtsbr_001 ? Also, how is it that I'm able to get E-11 models (Mono's) into the game without hassle? The only models I can't get in are lightsabers and replacing the default blaster pistol model. Here, I'll take some screenshots after I get back from PT (physical training, I'm US Military) to show that I can replace default heavy blaster, blaster rifle, and repeating blaster rifle models.. I may attempt to make them into new items to see if that works.
DarthVaxis
Screens... why is this possible but not lightsabers and blaster pistols? http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/docmurrin/E-11ingame2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/docmurrin/E-11ingame1.jpg this is just replacement btw. Replacing the standard rifle model, but if that works then I'd assume new models can be made for rifles at least.

DarthVaxis
well, look on the bright side, at least ONE of Mono's outstanding blaster models is compatible with TSL I'm happy at least I don't have to look at the god awful ugly default blaster rifle model that's in the game. The other models are tolerable, though a bit plain.. But the rifle just looked straight up bad. Light grey too.. bleh.
