Lieutenant_kettch
I had no idea where to place this, so i put it in the cantina, feel free to move this dear moderators. I recently decided to convert my computer to a Windows/Linux machine. I greatly dislike windows, but i'm forced to use it because i'm a gamer... Now, i plan on buying a second hard drive to make my linux drive, because frankly, windows and linux get along worse than a Bantha and a Krayt Dragon. I don't want to risk my computer with a simple partition, so 2 HDs it is. Now for the tough part, i need to know how to accomplish my XP/Linux machine, and i can't seem to find any websites that truly can help me. None of my friends know squat about Linux either, so they are no help. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

El Sitherino
Dual booting, use GRUB it comes with Ubuntu linux and will give you the option to install it. When you boot up it'll ask which you want to boot linux or windows.

El Sitherino
You can do whatever you want. Me, I'm dabbling in servers and such. Plus it's great for setting up archives.
Leviathan
But risks of instability are greater when you have both Windows and Linux on your PC...
El Sitherino
But risks of instability are greater when you have both Windows and Linux on your PC... Only if done on a single drive. Two drives are perfectly fine.

El Sitherino
Hope you're right... The only reason it messes up on a single drive is because Windows tries to hog the HD and will try to overthrow the linux partition. Two drives is essentially like running it on two computers. Leviathan
Indeed, we can say Windows has never been created to "live" with another OS... (Especially when they are both installed on only one hard-drive)
Kjølen
Really? It seems that Windows was created very well prepared to **** up any other company's OSes on the same machine.
