All things Mandalorian (Boba Fett and his Ancestors)

I'll start this thread with the Complete Mandalorian History and Culture. As much as I know of it anyway.

The year of their arrival on the planet Mandalore is unknown to me, but some time during early human colonisation of the Galaxy a colony ship named Mandalore had a hyperdrive malfunction and were sent in the opposite direction. They crashed on the only inhabitable planet in the system and had to fight for survival against wild beasts and famine.

They suffered tecknological decline and were a primitive clan based culture, much like indians. They had only one civil war between their five clans but it ended in peace and there was never a war again for thousands of years.

An alein race called the Juanna made themselves known to the Mandalorians and it took them a long time to learn to comunicate in the other's language. The Juanna gave the Mandalorians technology and philosophy, and many other cultural things.

Then the Vuana came. They were tall lanky teal skinned aliens with no facial expressions and smooth skin. They attacked the Mandalorians and Juanna for no apparent reason and fought them for twenty years before mysteriously disapearing.

The Mandalorians widly advanced their military in anticipation for war but the Vuana did not return for over 200 years. Finally the Vuana came back with much larger forces and a war began that would last 6 thousand years. In that war the Juanna homeworld was knocked out of orbit and became desolate, the Juanna gradually died off from inbreeding and incompatabuility with the new climate changes.

The Mandalorians captured technology from the Vuana and learned of hyperdrives and ion cannons and various other advances in warefare which they quickly applied to their army and navy.

The Mandalorians finally built massive biological weapons and crashed them on the Vuana homeworlds causing complete Genocide, wiping out the Vuana.

They then spent many years rebuilding.

Finally the Mandalorians began to explore the galaxy and they discovered the Sith. The Mandalorians fought the Sith until Ulic Qel-Droma defeted Mandalore and earned the allegience of the Mandalorians.

The Mandalorians then fought along side the Sith during the Sith wars until they and the Sith were defeted at Onderon.

Thirteen years later the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders began conquering planets on the outer rim and the Mandalorian Wars began.

After the Mandalorians were defeated at the hands of Revan their warrior based culture began a steady decline.

Various clans of Mandalorians worked as mercinaries but most of them retreated to Mandalore and isolated themselves from the galaxy.

Over the corse of nearly 4,000 years they became a mercinary army. Finally a warrior named Vizsla wanted the Mandalorians to take over the Galaxy but Jaster Mareel wanted to remain mercinaries and would not allow Vizsla to have his way. They had a massive civil war and nearly destroyed themsleves.

Jaster was beaten and chased to Concord Dawn where Vizsla orphaned Jango Fett who Jaster took under his wing.

Jango became the leader of the few remaining Mandalorians when Vizsla killed Jaster at Montross' betrayal.

The Mandalorians were falsely accused of Murder and when the Jedi sought to bring them to trial they attacked and were killed by the Jedi. Jango was the only survivor.

Jango escaped slavery and exacted vengance on Vizsla. Jango then began his bounty hunter career until he was cloned for the Republic army. Jango's clone son Boba Fett took his father's armor after Jango's death at the hands of Mace Windu.

Boba Fett hunted down and killed everyone with Mandalorian armor until he was the only one. Boba Fett was almost killed by Luke Skywalker on Tattooine, but survived with the help of another bounty hunter named Dengar.

In Boba Fett's absence another bounty hunter impersinated him, but Boba Fett killed him and took his armor.

No Boba Fett did not die. His armor saved him from the Sharlak's stomic acid and he detonated a thermal grenade in the Sharlak's stomach so that it threw up, spitting him out. Then Dengar found him and restored him back to health.

Check out the book, Tales of the Bounty Hunters.

Lol, thanks Jed.

If you google search for Mandalore History, the first link you come across will be post Sith War era. It does not specify what time it takes place or finishes in relation to the rest of the star wars galaxy.

During the Sith Wars every single Mandalorian had unique armor, but when the Neo-Crusaders started the Mandalorian Wars they adopted a uniform like design of armor. Most low ranked soldiers wore blue armor, sergents wore red armor, lutenants wore green armor, commandoes wore yellow armor, and Mandalore whore black armor.

I have heard them described during the Sith and Mandalorian wars to have such complex armor that they often blew themselves or team mates up. But the Kotor designs do not seem complicated at all to me. They're just plain armor, they don't have the unique weapon cache like Boba, Jango, and Jaster did.

Still, I find Mandalorian culture to be so interesting. I love the Star Wars History more than the movies. But that's also due to the fact that there is more in the history than the movies, and they can expand on everything, and there's more room for imagination.

Jokemaster, lol, why didn't you just googlesearch for it?

Simply google searching for Mandalorian, Mandalore History, Boba Fett, etc... is pretty much how I found most things out. With the exception of a few lucky findings and sources from other people.

BTW if anyone has any good sources on Mandalorian History, please share.

I don't know. I was kind of dissapointed with the whole jango thing in Episode 2.

I'd never imagined Mandalorians as being humans, and i'm sure that the OLD backstory used to say that they were an old enemy of the jedi who had been wiped out... and that their armour could resist lightsabers.

I guess that when lucas decided to make Jango the source of the clones he had to make him human (given the empire's anti alien stance), but somehow it was anticlimactic.

Though I'm not sure it ever used to say anywhere that Boba Fett was a mandalorian, only that he used their armour.

The cheap way Jango died makes we realise why stormtroopers are so rubbish against ewoks ;-)

---

The KOTOR representation of mandalorians WAS a bit odd... as the supposedly traditional armour didn't appear at all.

Nope, 'cause the movies don't show him dying, just falling into the Sarlacc.

Falling into a giant pit with tenticles and razor-sharpe teeth sounds like dying to me...

And why not just check out the history of the Mandalorians in one of the newer Star Wars Insider mags?

I think Boba Fett was definitely a chracter that was killed off but resurrected because he was just so darn popular. Its been happenning in literature for ages. The same thing happenned the great literary detective Mr Sherlock Holmes. In a story that first appeared in the late 1800s, he was killed off, by his nemesis Professor Moriarty. But so overwhelming was public reaction to the whole thing, that the author was forced to concoct a tale to bring him back :)

Like it or no, Boba Fett, the one that falls in the sarlaac, survives. His armour protects him a litlle, and he injured the sarlaac by doing someting with his jetpack. He only survived because he was rescued by another bounty hunter Dengar.

But before this was even described in the Bounty Hunter Wars novels, Fett actually originally "re-appeared" in the Dark Empire Comics.

Fett lasted on and on, and he even has a very sneaky cameo in the very final book of the NJO, where he appears with a group of mercenaries all dressed in mandalorian armour :) [/EU Professor] :p

so that explains how he (i don't know if this is still considered a spoiler but i'll tag it anyway)

comes back in Jedi Accademy

Indeed.

"Did George Lucas intend for Boba Fett to die in the sarlacc, despite what others may say or print?

Yes, in George's view -- as far as the films go -- the baddest bounty hunter in the Galaxy met his match in the Great Pit of Carkoon where --unfortunately for Mr. Fett -- the ghastly sarlacc made its home.

So in the first source of canon, he is in fact dead. And Lucas views the movies and EU to be in two seperate universes...

I don't look at it as a matter of what's true and what's not(about Boba Fett's Death). I look at it as two seprate peices of science fiction. The movies are separate from the EU, the EU is just based on the movies. In the movies Fett died, in the EU he lived. I enjoy them both, I don't sit there and debate which one is real because neither are.
