Jade Empire?

Jade Empire is awesome.

My only gripe is in combat, when you're a bit of a distance from your enemy, you can't lunge to him ot hop to him or something. Instead, you walk really slowly towards him.

I also think that maybe health or chi should regen slowly out of combat.

Other than that, pretty cool. Got it today and put 5 hours in it so far, and I'm still in Chapter 2.

I heard that besides a somewhat short game. Also that about half of the game was spent actually fighting and the other half was talking to characters. I love the interaction parts of games like in KotOR, but half the game? That could be a little too long winded for me.

If 23 hours is short... then our standards sure have increased. I don't know how people say they beat it in 15 hours. unless they're not doing any sidequests and just plow through the game.

Uh... I remember fighting quite a lot in KOTOR... the only difference I see between the two is the real-time combat, which I actually like. Instead of watching, I can control my character.

After completing the game as a follower in the way of the closed fist, I think Jade Empire is one of the best games I've ever played. I can't wait for a Jade Empire 2 or a new RPG from Bioware.

Oh and it could also be rated "M" because of the talks of slave trading, chopping enemies heads off, and other things. Oh and there are topless females, but it's not that big of a deal because they got fur.

Remember kids, guns don't kill people, video games do!

Ah so they do actually chop peoples heads off? Is it really THAT violent? In a movie I've seen a persons head go lfying off because of a cannon ball, is it just about as bad as that? So are you saying the topless females are animals? Or humans with fur? o_O

To be exact, they're female "spirit foxes." If you've seen Kill Bill (which I doubt) you'd know what happens after your enemies head is chopped off. Also, if you complete a combo, you basically explode them. Frankly, if you're not 18, and your parents are anal about video games, forget about it.

Its based on the same Wuxia-kung fu film influences as kill bill, so its hardly surprising that it's violent.

As for gameplay length, as I understand it it's similar to KOTOR in terms of the amount of content, but they have made the combat faster and taken out a lot of the micromanagement of things like inventories and items. Which is why it plays through quicker.

Personally, with freeform games like Deus Ex, KOTOR, fable etc... I actually prefer it if they aren't too long. Cos I usually want to play through them again in a different way, and i'm not going to do that if it is going to take another 20 or 30 hours. But those games i've listed are about the only ones with any real freedom of plot, so they are about the only ones i'd play through more than once.
