Captivus
Can anybody help me with appearance.2da heads.2da and portraits.2da? I've just created a new head - TSL sees it but doesn't show the head itselph just something like it http://img182.echo.cx/my.php?image=headless2va.png I don't know where to look for the problem - all seems done properly (I've checked heads appearance and portraits.2da over dozen times) Can anybody tell me what to do or give a link to a post that would help? The Source
Possible Problem: Okay, you installed all the codes correctly into the Head.2da and appearance.2da right? If this is the case, make sure the head, you assigned is still connected to the body tag in the appearance.2da file. Now, bare with me, I am still new to this, but I fumbled alot to understand enough. If all your settings are correct, and you have a miising head, there is one possibility, which I stumbled upon. Are your rows in the head.2d and appearance.2da files still in sequence. If the numbers on the leftside are not sorted correctly, you can cause some weird stuff to happen. I accidently resorted by name, and caused the PC to turn into an interactive Duxun chreature. I forget their names, but it was weird. I was walking around on Narshadaa with a large green animal. Prime
It's a good bet that one of the entries in one of the files has an incorrect value.
Darkkender
OK so your creating a new unique head right? have you created a new set of head model files. both mdl & mdx. Without those you will get a headless pc problem. Also do you have your tga file named to match the model files with the number extension at the end? Without the tga matching with the model files you will get this problem as well. If you can give us a listing of what files you made that might help. Also if you can list the entries you have listed in heads.2da, portraits.2da and the first 10 or so columns in appearance.2da(the ones that cover your heads entries are most important here). That way we can more easily tell you what may be causing the problem.
Mav
I'm probably wrong, but you never know, so make sure you don't look right past the small things, and make sure you don't have an alpha channel that is causing the invisibility , hey it could be.... stop laughing at me guys.... General Kenobi
I'm betting if all your edits are coming out invisible; and I bet when you load a new game with the character you made it just gets frozen on the screen with nothing and you can't move only exit??? I am having the same issues trying to do the same thing with editing those files. One of your problems might be a rogue "appearance" or the like 2da file hiding in the main override or in a sub folder. I'd check that to make sure. Hope that helps, DM
Captivus
I have an ide - can anyone please give me an email? I'd just send the files and one would tell me whats wrong .....
General Kenobi
Darkkender is a bud of mine who has helped me in the past with a head (very nice fella) I'd try him or ChAiNz.2da and see if they are free enough to assist. We're all havin' email update problems so those of us who help others like me and the guys above are taking a bit longer to answer stuff. (I know I am anywho) Did you make SURE that there are no conflicting hiding 2da files? That was my problem Now my character is warped like a green void all over the screen not seeing nothing so I think I"m close
Captivus
Did you make SURE that there are no conflicting hiding 2da files? Well - yeah I'm sure : I erased ALL files in the Override and then put changed appearance heads and portraits. Nothing changed. I don't know what I am doing wrong .... Renegade Angel
Originally posted by Prime It's a good bet that one of the entries in one of the files has an incorrect value. Yes, I agree with Prime. Once, when I was working on a Heads.2DA file I changed one of the values and my characters had no heads.
Darkkender
After taking a look at what you sent me captivus your mod is missing a key element. Your missing the model files for the head. Extract the apropriate head for the original model. I believe you are using PMHC04 both the mdl & mdx and chnage the numbers to match the number of your new texture. without the model files your new appearance will always be headless. I posted this here so that others who were following this would know what caused the problem in case they are encountering similiar problems. Also as a reminder to anybody wanting to do a Head mod if you skip an element this type of thing will happen.
