Dagobahn Eagle
The story of Hank. I found it buried deep in the Senate Chambers, with a thick layer of dust over it. It's not really a Senate topic, so instead of bumping it, I re-post it here. Good night.
IG-64
Is it just me or is this sounding aimed at religion? *looks at address and sees atheism in it* Yeah, that's what I thought.
Dagobahn Eagle
That's the whole idea:p. Busted.
IG-64
Well, for one thing, this probably will turn out to be a senate-worthy topic. Another thing is that you could very well do that with anything to make it look ridiculous. I also notice this article is probably aimed at catholics, and i'm not catholic, so I won't say much about those points. But I just want to say that "Hank" writing a letter that says the moon is made of green cheese is hardly a comparison to the Bible.

jebbers
i remember some of the mods were trying to explain this to me when i first arrived...took me like three weeks, but i finally understand now.
Dagobahn Eagle
That was pretty funny. Finally:). And IG-64, I'd say it's questioning blind faith of something unproven. Maybe SkinWalker wrote it:D.
CapNColostomy
Wow. That IS old. I remember when that was getting sent everywhere as an email. Buried in the Senate Chambers was a good place for it if you ask me. Of course you didn't ask me, so you're probably not interested in reading an old circulated email I have saved called "All Atheists Are Lame-Ass Homosexuals, Who Seem To Be The Only People On the Planet That Try To Cram Their Belief Systems Down Peoples Throats More Than The Christians And Muslims Combined, Except People Actually Pay Attention To Christians And Muslims Because They'll ****ing KIll You-A Study In Idiocy And Mediocrity Part I." Ummm...Because nobody named Hank makes mention of the moon being green cheese in The Bible? Just a guess...Lots of fictional things are certainly at least as fantastic or more so than some of the events described in The Bible, but we don't compare the origins of Wolverine from the X-Men to The Bible. Why not? Because that's just retarded and not relevant.
Dagobahn Eagle
Wow. That IS old. I remember when that was getting sent everywhere as an email. Hence the thread's title. Ummm...Because nobody named Hank makes mention of the moon being green cheese in The Bible? It's an analogy for other fantastic things in the Bible, such as the flat Earth, the Earth as the centre of the universe, a man that can split a sea in two, and a prophet that can walk on top of water as if he was standing on a raft. The wiener analogy refers to how certain religious people try to cram weird beliefs (cough, anti-nudity, homophobia, cough, 9/11) down your troat and then point to nothing but scripture to justify it. Well you can quite easily. Its telling you, out of faith, to beleive something you have never seen with your own eyes. Just like the bible and Miricels. (My arguement would be much better if i could spell )
ZBomber
Originally posted by IG-64 Where in the Bible does it say that? And whats 9/11 got to do with anything? It said it in the Torah along time ago. Some guy (forgot his name) was even killed because of his proving the earth was not the center of the universe. I think it has since been removed, but I know it used to be taught. Acrylic
That was pretty funny. Reminds me of those really fanatical religions that have no ways to really back things up, but say things are wrong.
Dagobahn Eagle
And whats 9/11 got to do with anything? It was carried out by religious fundamentalists, duh:p. Some guy (forgot his name) was even killed because of his proving the earth was not the center of the universe. Galileo Galilei, wasn't it? Or was he the one who figured out that the Earth was round? Doomie
You people take this too serious. If he wanted to debate religion, he'd probably have bumped the thread in the senate. I think it's funny.

Vikinor
That was just stupid. I got a cheap laugh out of it and I'm Catholic. Anyone who does take it seriously has to be like the Pope or someone.
