El Sitherino
"it's just two people talking to eachother, listening, and reacting, during which Palpatine offers all sorts of tidbits, hints, and possibilities to Anakin, waiting to see which one he'll pick up. Whatever direction Anakin chooses to go. Palpatine will follow that" Seems to me this will settle the "did Plageius create Anakin" thing as well. Like I said, he was just throwing things out to see what sticks.

Like I said, he was just throwing things out to see what sticks. How does throwing things out to see what sticks eliminate the idea that Plageius (or even Palpatine) could have had a hand in Anakin's creation? Assuming one of them did influence the Force to create him, doesn't make him Palpatine's instant pet or even make it easier for Palpatine to convince him to join the Sith cause. Palpatine still needs to figure out how to best motivate Anakin to join him, so of course he's going to feel him out. That doesn't prove that he's lying about the powers Plageius supposedly could manage, and since we don't know for sure whether or not he's telling the truth, we can't eliminate the possibility that the Sith were involved in Anakin's conception. Astrotoy7
Thats a nice read Maybe Im reading it wrong too, that doesnt *completely* rule out that anakin wasnt spawned by the sith.... Even from TPM, it was clear that Palpy had singled out anakin ... he just seems to be more aware of anakin and his predispositions than the jedi... my bad re-saesee tinn, I gotta check out that trailer and verify who that jedi from the cut scene was... (its on my other compy atm) mtfbwya
Jeff
I also found out an interesting fact from a friend of mine. Maybe you all know this, I'm not sure, but I didn't know this when I saw the movie. Darth Sidious was Darth Plagius' apprentice. When he talks about killing him in his sleep, he did it. And, he said unfortunately, he passed all his powers to his apprentice. So, that means Sidious knew how to keep Padme alive the whole time. Interesting, I thought.

Interesting, I thought. except that said by Sidious The power to cheat death is a power only one has achieved but if we work together I know we can discover the secret. And he has no need to save Padme, especially since he was the one behind the assassination attempts on her life. And at this point her death would only serve his purpose. Also, Palpatine said that Plageius had passed on this knowledge to his apprentice. And we learn by what Palpatine/Sidious says to Anakin that he doesn't know the secret to it, but with Anakin's help they will find the key to achieving it. Problem is, Padme has to die for Palpatine to have complete control over Vader.

I guess when I heard that he was his apprentice, I had thought then Sidious must have lied to Anakin when he said no one knew how to do it. And, he probably had never used the power. If I can find the site where my friend said he saw that, I'll post it. Maybe he's wrong...
Astrotoy7
I think it needs to be acknoweldged that palpatine can warp the truth at times... the 'sith legend' was hardly that, it was the story of his ascension.. revealing padme's fate....telling anakin that he killed her on mustafar by saying that they need to work together to learn the secret of cheating death, is only a means to keep anakin hangin on to that promise. If he had said anything else, he would have been obligated to either save her, or risk anakin not pledging his loyalty. As sithy said, Padme's death was crucial to the whole thing as for anakins genesis, until solidly confirmed, most likely in EU and/or at SW.com anything we can come up with is speculation. I definitely like the idea that plagueis or sidious was responsible for anakins creation... it makes the sith all that more ominous.. it also means that the sidious/vader/luke clash in ROTJ was a huge clash between two generations of father/sons... sorta mtfbwya

Since Anakin was believed to be the Chosen one, probably only the Force concieved him. If the sith did concieve him, Why would they make a slave on a remote world the mother? It makes no sense. As Qui-Gon said, It is possible he was concieved by the Midichlorians
El Sitherino
Indeed. If they created him, why not keep him and raise him as the perfect, obedient sith warrior they want?
OmegaNothing
I personally think it was just something Palpatine was saying to turn Anakin to the darkside, but Anakin missed that point... Like I said in the other thread, I don't there is a right or wrong answer, its one of those things where Lucas deliberately left it open for the audience to believe what they want. Mike Windu
except that quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- said by Sidious The power to cheat death is a power only one has achieved but if we work together I know we can discover the secret. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Except how do we know he isn't lying He is after all a terrible Sith lord. It's possible that he knew, but was just bsing that to Anakin to keep Anakin bound to him. Also: I hate the HUGE LINE in Sidious forehead. It's so sickening XD
fuzzyfreaker
Personally, i think that sidious/palpy did have the power to save padme but just didn't to show anakin something. What that is i dunno but I think he did have the power but just didn't use it. Like losing padme made him all hard and cold and then he had no attachment to anything until he met and confronted his own son, which in seeing padme in him brought him back. Just speculating. P.S: Wrinkle's not as bad as the pimple on Obi-wan's face. That's all i could stare at the whole movie, that wreched pimple. Staring at me...
