BongoBob Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 My mom is a member of a forum for moms of boys, and theres only one problem she has with it. There's no profanity filter, and she's offended by cursing. So she asked me if I could find a profanity filter for her. Well, so far I can't find one. I've googled it, searched on ask jeeves, and looked on download.com for something to do that, but I can't find one. Can someone help me? Does something like this even exist? Any help is greatly appreciated
jon_hill987 Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Firefox might have an extention for this, if not you could write one. (I'm just gonna look at the firefox extentions for you) EDIT: No, I think you will have to write it.
Astrotoy7 Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 how about programs liek net nanny ?? surely the talk on such a forum cant be that bad....?? if it really bothers her, perhaps she should find a forum that does have such a filter, im sure there are plenty mtfbwya
BongoBob Posted May 27, 2005 Author Posted May 27, 2005 THe problem is, she doesn't want to leave. There's a whole story to why, but I am not gonna type all of it. I thought those only blocked web sites, not filter swearing?
StormHammer Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Originally posted by BongoBob I thought those only blocked web sites, not filter swearing? They filter out swear words and unacceptable material. I believe you can set up your own lists of websites, unacceptable content, curse words etc to filter out. Why not check some of these progs out? They offer demos.
TiE23 Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Just get a few bottles of Wite-Out Okay, not very helpful but I am sure you can find some anti bad word things, or you can even email the Admin of the forum and ask him or her to add a language filter like the one we have. TiE

toms Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 if you use the greasemonkey extension for firefox then (under the "all sites" scripts section) there is a "clean language" script that should replace any words you specify with ***s. I haven't used greasemonkey or this script myself though, so i can't tell you how reliable or easy to set up it is. http://dunck.us/collab/GreaseMonkeyUserScripts#head-524a33d9c5f7b0b5f0ca2b68ec88caa45355bfa7
