pirate boy
I'm not one for big conventions, but what if we actually got our stuff together and had this yearly (or likely later than that to recover the money) convention Monkey Island themed? Like you would be on one of the 'islands' and you could go around and shop at the local dealers. -One would sell swords, and gun replicas (if real aint your thing than wooden) -we could hire a local spray paint artist to make custom monkey island/pirate themed tshirts. -someone could have an area like a ring cornered off for those who would want to learn insult swordfighting -you could have a fortune teller -the selling of grog and root beer among other delicious drinks -you have a local business cater for the first few years like Red hot and blue, or Dave's Famous Ribs -get some local band entertainment play some 'piratey songs' (related to the game -watch piratey movies considering there isn't a Monkey Island movie out (though we could watch the play ) then monkey island fans could all get dressed up pirate themed of course and then, to make more of a impact and have more people come, you do it on National Pirate Day. Ponderous material Of course this could be just as good for Grim Fandango aka Day of the Dead)

westside8_20
as good as it sounds, you would only get about 20 people to go probably. To the average person or even gamer, the name monkey island doesn't mean jack squat
Thrik
Well actually, I'd be surprised if somebody over the age of like fourteen hadn't at least heard of Monkey Island - it was a very well known game, and still is. By the way westside, are you aware that a lot of the threads you're bumping are almost a year old?
